Samsung has presented its new commitment to the Ativ range of products And although we know that everything that has to do with tablets or hybrids and operating systems from Microsoft is suspicious, this time it has managed to unite two worlds in one place.

The Samsung Ativ Q has the possibility of being able to change the operating system in use, from Android Jelly Bean to Windows 8, thanks to the new technology included in this product. But first let's look at the convertible.

Technical specifications

The Samsung Ativ Q, the first product in this range, has a thickness of 13.9 millimeters, and a weight of 1.29 kilograms, made of metal and magnesium. More or less the size that all ultrabooks are having today.

But also, this product has the possibility of being able to move the screen to various positions; the traditional mode as if it were a laptop, or horizontal to the keyboard to use it as a tablet, you can also separate the screen from the keyboard (not as we think, it cannot be disconnected) and finally you can rotate it 180 degrees and use it to watch movies or some video.

Meanwhile on the screen, we have a 13.3-inch qHD+ with a resolution of 3200x1800 pixels, so far the best on screen for laptops. Of course, it is tactile and has a density of 275 ppi. The convertible also comes with an S-Pen.

As for internal specifications, we have:

  • Processor: Intel Core I5.
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4400.
  • RAM Memory: 4GB DDR3L
  • Internal storage: 128 GB SSD
  • 720p HD front camera, how many megapixels not specified.
  • Dimensions: 327.0x217.8x13.9mm.
  • Weight: 1.29 kilograms.
  • Connectivity: 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, HDMI, Micro SD, RJ45 (network card), microphone and headphone input.

Android and Windows 8 in one place

The Samsung Ativ Q, as I said at the beginning, brings two worlds together in one place Take advantage of the benefits we all know about Windows 8, and combines it with the catalog of applications and utilities that the Android operating system has, in this case, in its Jelly Bean version.

There is no need to restart the operating system to switch from Android to Windows 8 or vice versa, both work at the same timeWe can even bring Android app shortcuts to Windows 8. Let's hope Samsung is encouraged to include this in other products.

Price and availability

For now it is not known when this terminal will be available, nor the price. So we have to keep an eye out for when the Korean company announces this.

What do you think of the Samsung Ativ Q?
