Monster Burner
Table of contents:
Monster Burner is one of those games where once you start it up, you keep playing without realizing that time is passing . Even with the rather awkward load times it has, I still recommend it and put it as an app of the week.
Monster Burner is a game where you use your finger to create balls of fire, and then direct them at enemies coming from the top of the screen down, vertically. As you clear them, you get gold coins and other items. Once you start Monster Burner, and wait for 3 to 5 seconds to load, the screen with the game options will appear, it has 4 modes :The first is the normal campaign, where we can play the 7 chapters. The second is the level of the day, every day we will have a different level to play. The third is the Gold Rush, which is designed so that we make the most combos and get gold to buy improvements. This is played every 6 hours. The fourth is the Four Seasons, which has 4 levels with each season of the year.
Once we choose the level we want to play, before we start we can buy improvements to our fireballs, we can choose between increasing the size of them or the rebound they have, we can also buy things like walls of fire, lives and objects to slow down or speed up the enemies.
When the game starts, the enemies will arrive, when we touch the screen with our finger, a fireball will form in that place, the longer we hold the screen down, the ball will of fire will get bigger, the size will depend on how many improvements we have assigned to it.Then with a gesture as if you were throwing something, the fireball will launch in the direction we have given it and will eliminate everything in its path
The enemies we have are quite varied and each one has a different characteristic, for example, the red dwarves are the most common, then there are others that have a helmet that we will have to hit it twice with the fireball or others that are like a water ball that will extinguish your fireball when it hits it. If someone reaches the bottom of the screen, we will lose a life.As we eliminate enemies, coins will appear, tapping on them they will be stored in our bag to later use them in other improvements. However, upgrades come at a fairly high price, for example, the second fireball size upgrade is priced at 10,000 coins, when we on average get 400 coins (which is very positive) per level.
In the store you can also buy packs of gold coins for real money, however, at least in my case, the prices of these packs did not appear to me, and when I clicked there, it showed me a store connection error. Apparently, you have to look for price information on some Ubisoft server. The same goes for the highscore table, which shows nothing.
Unfortunately, this is not the only bug the game has, for example, when we go to the bottom of the upgrade list , we have an empty space that if we touch there, it will close the game. According to Monster Burner's Facebook page, it's a bug that has already been fixed, but the update hasn't arrived on Windows Phone yet.
Another thing that is very annoying is that the loading times between screens are 1 to 2 seconds each, this makes that going from level to level, or even pausing, is something you don't want to do.But after a while, one ends up putting up with it.
So, is it worth buying?
Naturally, if I put it as App of the Week, it's worth buying, but the reasons for this is that It's a very addictive game and easy to play , you are always looking to get the best score and grab all the coins. Even though it has bugs, it doesn't interrupt directly when playing, so it's not that problematic.
Monter Burner has a price of 0.99 dollars(at first it was free, however it seems that it was not profitable for them and they passed it to payment), thanks to this, makes it a very good purchase.
