Could we use Windows on a Google Chromebook? A crazy theory or a not-so-distant hypothesis?
Table of contents:
Google is doing very well with ChromeOS and Pixelbooks in the educational segmentIn fact, their good work could have been one of the causes that have motivated some movements that we have seen in the market. This is the case of the launch of the iPad with support for the Apple Pencil or the arrival of Windows 10 S (later S Mode) at Microsoft.
Google teams with ChromeOS are very attractive and many gazes are focused on them. So much so that there are voices talking about the possibility that those in Mountain View could allow the execution of Windows for PC on Pixelbook with ChromeOS.A hypothesis that gains strength with new reports that are coming to light.

XDA colleagues have had access to this information and have done so based on the work of ChromeOS developers. In the documentation they refer to AltOS, the system they have been working on for some time and they do so in parallel with Windows Hardware Certification Kit (WHCK) and Windows Hardware Lab Kit (HLK).
Apparently Google could be testing the Windows Hardware Certification Kit and HLK Windows Hardware Lab Kit on Pixelbooks. The objective would be none other than to achieve full compatibility of computers with ChromeOS to be able to use Windows.
Google teams, if everything comes to fruition, will be certified to be able to use Windows and support to access all the necessary _drivers_.
ChromeOS is becoming more and more complete, since it has been compatible with Android applications (apart from Chrome and Linux) for some time now, in a way that greatly expands the options for users. Let's also imagine that now the owners of a Pixelbook could use applications designed for Windows Both Google and Microsoft would win.
However does not mean that we are going to see a Chromebook with Windows from the factory. An improvement of this caliber would allow the user to have the option of installing Windows 10 if they wish.
Remember that the Pixelbook is a device that integrates a 12.3-inch screen. Inside it offers a seventh generation Intel Core processor with variants of 8 or 16 GB of RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. It also offers support for stylus so that can be used as a laptop or tablet
