These are the numbers with which the Surface Laptop wants to beat the competition. Will they be enough?
We already have with us the new Microsoft proposal within the Surface range. And in the end it was not the expected Surface Pro 5, but a new type of product that under the name of Surface Laptop takes on the forms of a compact laptop under a new version of Windows called Windows S.
A Microsoft approach to the educational environment without neglecting users who want an attractive computer without making them give up some interesting specifications that allow them to be always connected to achieve what we have come to call productivity on the go.A product that comes to stand up to a market with numerous alternatives and for this there is nothing better than comparing them with the numbers in hand.
And it is that although the Microsoft Surface Laptop is a device that would not fall into the category of hybrids or convertibles as if it were the case with the Surface Pro 4, you are going to have to fight first with its predecessor and then with other models that following the premises of this one have been recently presented.

This is the case, for example, of the HP Pro X2 or the Samsung Galaxy Book, two convertible models that we saw at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona and that offer quite interesting featureswith the particularity of offering that dual use that Redmond's now try to avoid.
But it is also that the Surface Laptop where it wants to break down the competition is in educational environments and here is a king. or rather two (if we include universities in this segment). We are talking above all about Google's Chromebook Pixel 2015, a device from which a new version (Chromebook Pixel 3) is expected, since the current one dates from 2015 and which, thanks to its reasonable price, has conquered classrooms around the world.
"It also has to fight very hard against Apple and especially the MacBook (I think the MacBook Pro plays in another league due to price and specifications), a team that, although with significant shortcomings (oh that Apple connectivity...) offers outstanding performance with a design _made in Apple_ that we all know."
Weapons to stand up
The Surface Laptop counts to overthrow these enemies (there are only a few but there are many more) with relatively tight measurements of 308.1 x 223.27 x 14.48 millimeters thick and a weight of 1.25 kg, which hides a 13 multi-touch IPS panel.5-inch with a “PixelSense” resolution of 2560 x 1504 pixels, a 3:2 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Inside a processor Intel Core i5 or i7 (Kaby Lake) with Intel HD 620 graphics (Intel iris Plus Graphics 640 in the i7) with 4 GB, 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM and a storage capacity ranging from 128 GB to 512 GB through 256 GB .
A device that offers connectivity WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, USB 3.0 (Microsoft left out USB Type-C along the way), a Mini DisplayPort jack, and two speakers with Dolby Audio Premium technology. And all this with a battery that allows up to 14 hours of use.
We already know the prices that start at 999 dollars or 1,149 euros for the basic model (Core i5 + 4GB RAM + 128 GB SSD) up to 2.199 dollars or 2,499 euros for the top-of-the-range model (Core i7 + 16GB + 512 GB SSD). Now it remains to be seen if all these specifications and especially the contribution of Windows S will be enough to conquer users
