The closeness of the launch of Windows 10 does not prevent many manufacturers from continuing to launch good equipment on the market during these months. One of these manufacturers that dares to offer news is ASUS, which has just announced the Asus Zenbook UX305 and Asus Zenbook Pro laptops UX501

The ASUS Zenbook UX305 actually already existed under that name. It is an ultraportable launched at IFA 2014 and includes a Core M processor (5Y10c at 0.8Ghz), 13.3-inch screen, battery life 10 hours and only 1.2 kilograms of weight. The novelty is that ASUS is launching a renewal of this model, which improves in terms of screen, reaching a QHD+ resolution (3200 x 1800), and RAM memory and hard disk, reaching 8 GB and 512 GB SSD respectively

On the other hand, we have the ASUS Zenbook Pro UX501, a laptop whose emphasis is on the power, but without neglecting mobility. It includes a 4th generation Intel Core i7 (i7-4720HQ) processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics with up to 4GB of GDDR5 memory, 16GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD drive with PCIe technology All of these elements should ensure performance in line with what the most demanding users expect.

In terms of connectivity, the Zenbook Pro UX501 includes Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11ac, 3 USB 3.0 ports (one of which integrates ASUS Charger+ technology to charge other devices faster), an HDMI port, a mini DisplayPort, and even a Thunderbolt port , available only in some configurations. We also have a card reader, 3.5mm audio input/output and Ethernet port.

The screen is 15.6 inches with UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) and IPS technology, which translates into a pixel density of 282 ppi, almost equivalent to what a 5-inch smartphone with 720p resolution would offer. And in other components such as the speakers and the touchpad, top-level quality is also promised.

All of these features should translate into a very short battery life, were it not for the fact that the Zenbook Pro UX501 also offers a 6-cell 96Wh battery , which allows us to work for 6 hours editing documents, browsing or watching videos (the duration obviously should be less if we use the laptop to play, edit video or other more demanding tasks). The weight of the equipment is also reasonable: 2. 27 kilograms if the 6-cell battery is included, or 2.06 kilograms if we opt for a larger battery small, 4-cell.

"

In summary, an excellent all-terrain team>"

Price and availability

It is reasonable to assume that the new UX305 (the lightest computer, with Core M) will go on sale at the same price as its predecessor, that is, around 699 euros, although this is not yet confirmed. For its part, regarding the UX501 we know that it will cost from $1,499 in the United States, although there is still no information on its price and availability in other countries.
