HP announces the EliteBook 1020
Table of contents:
Yesterday HP announced a new computer within its EliteBook line for businesses and professional users, it is the EliteBook 1020, a 12.5-inch ultrabook that aspires to stand out from other business computers thanks to its 15.7mm thickness and 1kg weight that allow it to take the lead the MacBook Air when it comes to lightness and thinness (specifically, the EliteBook 1020 weighs 350 grams less than the 13-inch MacBook Air and 80 grams less than the 11 model).
It is HP's belief that this increased mobility does not come at the expense of functionality or ruggedness, and therefore the EliteBook 1020 includes most of the advanced features for companies found on other EliteBook notebooks. These include a fingerprint reader, Intel vPro and Landesk technology for added security, and shock, drop, extreme temperature, and high pressure resistance—all of it verified by military level tests.
In terms of internal specifications, it is not far behind either, offering us 8 GB of RAM, a 128 or 256 GB SSD, and an Intel Core M processor that promises us a range of approximately 9 hours and silent use, since this type of chip allows us to do without fans. We also have a 720p webcam for video conferencing and an audio system with noise cancellation and other improvements via software.
The EliteBook 1020 will go on sale in two editions, of which only the Special Edition will comply with the weight and thickness measurements mentioned above, thanks to its structure made up of carbon fiber and an alloy of magnesium and lithium. The resolution of this model will be 2560 x 1440 pixels (qHD) and it will not have a touch screen.
"On the other hand, the standard edition will weigh a little more ( although we don&39;t know how much more), since it will be made with cheaper materials. Of course, when choosing this edition we can opt for a touch screen in the equipment configuration."
HP EliteBook 1020, price and availability
There is still no official information on the price of these notebooks, but we do know when they will hit the market: the Standard Edition would go on sale in February , while the Special Edition would see the light in april.
HP would reveal the prices of the equipment as the respective launch dates approach. And hopefully along with it, the full specifications will also be revealed, such as the weight of the standard edition, or the complete list of ports.
