Microsoft Introduces New Windows Devices at Computex 2014
Table of contents:
Tech companies continue to give it their all at Computex 2014 in Taiwan, and Microsoft couldn't be left behind at one of the biggest technology conferencesof the world. Those from Redmond have taken the opportunity to present a new range of Windows Phone phones as you already know, but the news does not end here.
They have also unveiled new Windows devices that will hit the market in the coming months We can find a little bit of everything, from oriented laptops to be used in educational centers, convertibles designed from scratch with companies in mind, going through more modest products aimed at the general public.Let's see a couple of them.
HP Pro x2 612
The first is called the HP Pro X2 612, and it is a 2-in-1 hybrid device that can be a tablet or portable. According to Microsoft, it has been designed from scratch with the needs of the professional sector in mind.
As we can see, its design is rather robust, clearly oriented towards companies, since they have not focused on achieving a awesome aesthetic. In fact, if we analyze it more deeply we will understand why the Redmonds make such claims.
The operating system used depends on the user, since it is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, so you can install one or the other without having to worry about incompatibility problems.
This hybrid features a 12.5"> (1920x1080) touch screen, and comes with a passive stylus, meaning there is no connection between the stylus and the HP Pro X2 612. A great addition is that the digitizer is from Wacom, which is synonymous with quality and reliability.
The HP Pro x2 612 is available in a variety of configurations spanning the range of the Intel Haswell processor family (Celeron, Pentium, and up to the Core i7 Y-Class), and includes a host of business-friendly features.
Some of these are the presence of a TPM and Intel vPro technology, which manage to provide a high degree of security to the device. In addition, there is a fingerprint reader for quick login, making sure only authorized people can use it.
The display alone offers a Smart Card Reader Enterprise ID, a micro SD expansion port for external storage , and even space for a Qualcomm Gobi 4G LTE modem that can be optionally installed.
The keyboard that accompanies the tablet is rather a port expansion center,as well as autonomy of the device. Thanks to it, we will have two USB 3.0 ports, a DisplayPort, an SD card reader and VGA output.
HP claims that the tablet can work for 8 hours straight on a single charge, but if we connect the keyboard things change due to the battery it has.In this case, the autonomy of the assembly becomes between 14 and 16 hours, and the total weight rises to 1.8kg (manageable considering the type of which device it is).
No word on pricing, but it will start to be available this September from HP.
Toshiba Encore 7
Toshiba has introduced the Toshiba Encore 7, a new 7-inch Windows 8.1 tablet developed by Microsoft and Intel, with which they expect stand up to Android in this sector. At the same time, they want to show that if you want to make an affordable product, you don't have to just use ARM chips.
It has a Quad-core Intel Atom processor at 1.33GHz, and has 16GB of internal storage. It may not seem like much to be talking about a device with Windows 8.1, but a memory card slot will allow us to expand the total available space.
In this case there is no information on what it will cost, although they do assure us that they intend to make it a more than affordable option within the 7-inch range. Early rumors suggest we could be looking at a device costing around $150
