HP today announced the renewal of its range of ultrabooks with the HP EliteBook 800 series, three new thinner and lighter notebooks specially designed for business.

In addition to the design and specifications that we will see now, the EliteBooks have the MIL-STD 810G certification, which broadly indicates that they survive high and low temperatures, low pressures, immersion in water, resistance to sand and dust and blows. Come on, they are laptops that are difficult to break.

HP EliteBook 800 series, design

The new laptops don't stand out particularly in design, but they can't be said to be bad either. The body is unibody, made of magnesium with some aluminum parts.

The three models have a height of 2.1 centimeters, not especially slim but an improvement over previous ultrabooks. Regarding the arrangement of connectors, VGA and USB are on the left side and on the right we have power, Ethernet, another USB connection and the audio jack.

Finally, the keyboard: in addition to looking quite wide and comfortable, it has a button to use the mouse (the Trackpoint, very common in Lenovo Thinkpads) and we can buy it backlit to work comfortably in low light .

Price and availability

The pricing information HP has given us is pretty sparse: cheapest model will cost $800. We do not know prices in Europe or how much the basic versions of each of the models will cost.

We don't have much availability information either. We only know that they are already available in the United States, so they shouldn't take long to reach other countries either.
