Along with its new tablets and convertibles, Samsung has updated its ATIV range with two new laptops with Windows 8. Branded ATIV Book 9 , the Korean company brings to the market two models of laptops with the surname of Plus and Lite, in which design and thinness take on special importance.
Both devices integrate SideSync technology with which Samsung intends to improve interaction between its devices. With it they intend to convert their equipment into a single system, being able to type with the keyboard of our laptops on the mobile or view images directly from the smartphone on the computer screen.
ATIV Book 9 Plus
The Plus version of the ATIV Book 9 is a powerful computer housed in a very slim and stylish body. Its 13.6 mm thickness and 1.39 kg weight are an undoubted attraction for many users. The material used in the uni-body design is aluminum.
The Book 9 Plus features a 13.3-inch qHD+ 3200x1800 resolution touchscreen , similar to that of the ATIV Q convertible. Inside we can opt for low consumption Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and with integrated HD 4400 graphics. RAM memory can reach 8 GB and as for the SSD hard disk we can choose up to 256 GB of storage.
Despite all that power and contained dimensions, the Book 9 Plus promises a battery life of up to up to 12 hoursThe equipment is completed by two USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI and mini VGA ports, SD card slot and the classic audio input and output ports.
ATIV Book 9 Lite
The Book 9 Lite is positioned one step below the Plus version of the new ATIV laptops. With a similar design but less risky lines, the Book 9 Lite integrates a team of more contained specifications that aims at a more affordable price range for the average user.
In its 17 mm thickness and kilo and a half weight it fits a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and an SSD with up to 256 GB of storage. All this powered by a battery that promises a duration of 8 and a half hours in its non-touch version. And it is that the Book 9 Lite has a 13.3-inch screen and 1366x768 resolution that can be touchscreen
The equipment is completed by two USB ports, one of them 3.0, micro HDMI and mini VGA ports and a 3-in-1 card reader, as well as the expected microphone and headphone ports.
Price and availability
With the Book 9 Plus, the Korean company targets the high-end of the market, while the Book 9 Lite remains the most affordable version of its new laptops. We can say little more about their cost, since Samsung has not yet revealed the price and availability of these new laptops from the ATIV family.
