HP has launched a hybrid team that enjoys the traditional design tablet PC, that is, we have an 11-inch laptop whose screen can rotate and fold over the keyboard to be in tablet format.
It is a team that works on Windows 8 and its touch screen makes its use very natural. EliteBook Revolve 810 is quite a capable laptop, with outstanding power thanks to its energy efficient Core i5 processor. It is a very balanced and versatile equipment that also has a premium finish.
Hewlett Packard has a long history in the tablet PC format and it's something that stands out on this device. Its more than proven screen fastening system that allows its turning and folding stands out for its robustnessand ease of use.
HP EliteBook Revolve 810, layout
This notebook has a premium finish, with a matte black underside and the rest of the equipment in aluminum color. However, we must highlight that on top of its aluminum chassis and magnesium lid, the laptop has a rubbery finish that is very pleasant to the touch.
This finish achieves greater adhesion when holding the equipment and prevents the typical ones from getting impregnated on the surface of the laptop fingerprints.
This laptop is the natural evolution of the EliteBook as the Revolve is 30% thinner, staying at 2 cm and is 20% lighter,1.36 kg.
HP EliteBook Revolve 810 inherits this name thanks to having passed seven endurance tests military: MIL SPEC-810G Among them stands out support for vibrations , dust, altitude, temperature (from -28ºC to 60ºC). Also drop test including 26 drops from any corner at a height of 76 centimeters.
The lower part of the laptop has two different areas, one for the battery and another for easy access to components such as the SSD or RAM.
The laptop has a volume control on the right side, a sliding power button and a screen rotation lock, useful if we use it in tablet mode. Having a 11, 6-inch screen with resolution 1,366 x 768 pixels and protectionGorilla Glass 2The screen offers remarkable brightness with a maximum of around 375 lux.
It is a touch device, with support for up to 10 fingers on the screen and works very fluidly to take advantage of Windows 8 gestures .

Careful sound and multimedia section
This equipment mounts two speakers that promise great sound quality thanks to the DTS Soundcertification. They sound good but taking into account the device and that it is not an ultra-thin tablet, bass reproduction is missing.
The device allows you to enjoy ambient music thanks to a high maximum volume, enough for a large room.
The reproduction of multimedia content on the screen is superb, showing a good level of contrast and a perfect brightness to be used even in extreme situations. of adverse light. The screen has a gloss finish that somewhat improves the vividness of the colors but makes it very difficult to use outdoors.
EliteBook 810 mounts a webcam 720p that promises video calls from great quality and thanks to the YouCam application allows you to take screenshots. It is not recommended for taking pictures as we will find a lot of noise in the image.
Backlit keyboard and multi-touch touchpad
"This laptop uses a QWERTY keyboard with chiclet format, that is, with the keys separated from each other that allow us to situate ourselves perfectly when writing thanks to the space between them. "
In addition to this we have backlighting with various levels available that will allow us to take advantage of it at night. We have to note that the HP EliteBook Revolve 810 keyboard is spill resistant and there is a small drain>"
The touchpad that integrates Revolve is large (8.9 x 4.9 mm) and strongly reminiscent of the one that integrates laptops Apple has great sensitivity both for use as a cursor and for performing the typical vertical / horizontal scrolling in documents and webs.
Great Connectivity Suite
Most of the HP Revolve connection ports are on the back which is where we can see 2 USB 3.0 ports,DisplayPort and one security slot Kensington plus one port ethernet It is strange to find this port in a device with these characteristics but it is very appreciated since a Wi-Fi network is not always available to connect to the Internet.
On the right side we find a proprietary HP connector to use a dock with the laptop, the output of headphones (minijack) and a card slot microSD .
As an extra we can mention that the equipment includes connectivity NFC, the incipient technology for transmitting contact information that they already do Features numerous cell phones and also optional connectivity HSPA+ via a data SIM card.
The equipment enjoys connectivity Wi-Fi N as well as Bluetooth so we can use any peripheral Bluetooth and transmit data to and from smartphones that use this technology.
HP EliteBook Revolve 810, Performance
EliteBook Revolve 810 boasts a dual-core processor Intel Core i5 3437U running at 1.9 GHz (2.9 GHz Turbo) and has 3 MB cache and HyperThreading.
This chip coupled with 4 GB of RAM DDR3 SoDIMM 1600 MHz and a Samsung SSD mSATA of 128 GB make the equipment a very fast device for day-to-day use.In PCMark 7 it scores 4,554 points, remarkable for an ultraportable computer but the cold boot time of Windows 8 is much more remarkable , just 8 seconds
Much of ">Samsung SSD that is capable of copying files at a speed of 160 MB/s , something we'll notice when using USB 3.0 drives.
The GPU that integrates this laptop is the one that mounts the Intel chip, that is, Intel HD graphics 4000, which although not It is focused on games, yes it can move undemanding titles. In addition, it speeds up the playback of HD content and has a very low consumption.
This device achieves a modest 584 points 3DMark11 and 12 fps in Cinebench OpenGL, as we say, very low results if you want to enjoy a good gaming experience, but, we emphasize that this is not the focus of this team.
Autonomy, interesting point of the laptop
HP has achieved a team with remarkable autonomy since we have been able to get about 5 hours and a half if we navigate via Wi-Fi with it, passing through sites with Flash, without Flash, that is to say, office automation and Internet use.
HP promises more than 8 hours b although we assume that it will be with a lower brightness level than what we tested or with the wireless off.
We'll be able to fearlessly stream two HD movies on a single charge and still have some juice to peek through our mail.
This model does not have an extended battery like HP does with other computers. But we assume that if it existed, it would significantly distort the design and weight of the equipment, which already offers remarkable autonomy.
Focus for professionals, security systems
This equipment includes several security measures focused on business users such as the TPM 1.2 chip, protection BIOS, Computrace, facial recognition, and HP SpareKey. As you can see, there is a large suite of security options, although to put some buts, fingerprint recognition is missing.
It also offers remote management support including updating or blocking the device via LANDesk Management Suite.
HP Elitebook Revolve 810, conclusions
The Revolve 810 laptop runs on Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and comes with additional software such as HP ePrint, Evernote, Skitch and a trial version of Office 2010. Also comes with Box pre-installed and a 2-year free 50 GB account.
It comes standard with the application Cyberlink Media Suite, customized by HP, to play multimedia content and we can affirm that the team has worked smoothly throughout all our tests.
EliteBook Revolve 810 can be purchased in its basic configuration with a Core i3-3227U processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB SSD for 1,825 eurosand we can reach a price of more than 2,400 euros if we choose the processor that integrated our test unit or the superior model Core i7 3687U (2.1 GHz).
We note that users can purchase an additional active stylus although we don't have any slot to carry it with our laptop so it will probably end up being a loseable item.
This equipment is a laptop that takes the best of current ultrabooks and takes advantage of HP's traditional tablet PC format with touch screen in a model made with high-quality materials and careful finishes.
It has a distinctly professional approach and while we have to admit it's a nice whim, a home user will find this laptop really expensive and will probably get the idea of buying a separate tablet and laptop at an even cheaper total price. However, professional users looking for durability and that extra premium materials and finishes will appreciate this equipment.
From my particular point of view the device, regardless of the price, is a very interesting device for those users who need buy a laptop and want to enjoy tablet functionalities occasionally (it's too heavy to be used that way for a long time).
However, if we look at the price, we see ourselves in a range that is perhaps very highfor the type of devices where we move.
