While Windows 10 is just around the corner, the fact that it's going to be offered as a free upgrade for Windows Windows 8.1 allows manufacturers to continue to bring innovative products to market during these months, instead of delaying their announcements until after July.

An example of this is the PiPO X8, a PC created by the Chinese manufacturer PiPO that offers a unique combination between set-top-box (or multimedia center) and desktop tablet It is a device without a battery, and therefore designed to be connected to a power outlet and an external screen, but at the same time it can be used separately, thanks to its 7-inch touch screen integrated into the device itself.

This screen has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, and as it has a touch interface with up to 5 points of contact it allows us to do without the mouse and keyboard , although we still have the option of connecting these peripherals through one of the 4 USB 2.0 ports, or Bluetooth 4.0.

In its guts, this PC has a 1.8GHz processor Intel Atom Z3735F, although there will also be a configuration with Intel Atom Z3736F of 2.16 GHz. In storage we can choose between 32 or 64 GB. Also included are 2GB of RAM, HDMI ports, Ethernet, 3.5mm audio output, SD card reader and 802.11n WiFi connectivity.

The manufacturer claims that the X8 should support playback of 4K content thanks to the Bay Trail architecture of its Atom processor.

The equipment is not officially available yet, but will be released during the month of May, date on which the detail of its specifications, which will clear up doubts such as whether it will have support for digital TV or if it will be sold together with a remote control as an accessory.

Its price is yet to be confirmed, but the manufacturer claims that will be under $100, which would make the PiPO X8 a great option for those looking for a device as a multimedia center for the home.
