Asus has taken advantage of the start of Computex 2013, the electronics fair that is being held this week in Taipei, to present various products . Alongside the Zenbook Infinity, its new Windows 8 ultrabook, and the Transformer Trio, a strange hybrid that combines Windows and Android; one of the most attractive offers from the Taiwanese is the VivoPC, an attractive living room PC, accompanied by the VivoMouse mouse, which may be what many Windows 8 users were waiting for.
Asus VivoPC
The VivoPC is still a typical desktop computer, but with an attractive design and clearly oriented to connect to our televisions .This small computer with a metal body is intended to serve as a media center without neglecting all the possibilities offered by Windows 8 that gives life to the equipment.
Asus has not yet wanted to reveal specifications, although everything indicates that it will carry new batch Intel processors inside. Interior that will also be easily accessible allowing you to replace the hard drive or RAM memory at any time. The latter is appreciated, because such a level of customization is not usual in this type of equipment.
What we do have details of is their connections, a section in which the Taiwanese seem to have spared no effort. The VivoPC includes WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, SD card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, audio input and output, a VGA port and an ethernet port. All this in a machine that is just 56 millimeters high
Asus VivoMouse
But the device that stands out for me from what Asus presented today is the VivoMouse A new input peripheral that combines traditional mouse with touchpad in a really attractive way. Its metallic body is crowned by a circular touch surface that promises to be very helpful to move around Windows 8 and the Modern UI environment.
The people at Engadget have published a video where we can see some of the features provided by this new VivoMouse. With it we can move with gestures through Windows 8, making it easier to transition between desktop environments and Modern UI, something that many users of non-touch screens will greatly appreciate. In addition, the mouse is wireless so it is presented as an ideal control for our living room PC.
Asus' goal is to have the VivoPC and VivoMouse on the market in the third quarter of this year, unknown to us yet nothing about the price at which they will be available.
