Since a few days ago, the Surface Go 2 that Microsoft presented on May 6th has been available in Spain and other markets. Microsoft's convertible tablet already has a second version, necessary to be able to compete on equal terms with competing products
We know its specifications, the main characteristics and the prices of the different variants that can be found in the market. And in the absence of being able to test it, we only had to know what it hides inside and how easy or complicated it can be to open the Surface Go 2 to repair it.Something that they have already done in iFixit to give their particular verdict.
Difficult, but not that hard
And it is almost a tradition that, when a device reaches the market, at iFixit they proceed with its disassembly to see what it hides inside and incidentally check what It can be easy (or not) to repair any fault.
We have seen different Microsoft products go through this test and thus, for example, we learned the Surface Pro 7 was difficult to repair , at least compared to the Surface Pro X, to cite an example. The Surface Pro 7 got a rating of 1 out of 10, but what about the Surface Go 2?
iFixit has opened the Microsoft tablet and after working hard with all the components they have determined that the score it deserves reaches a total of 3 out of 10 . It therefore improves on the work that Microsoft did with the Surface Pro 7.
iFixit gives this score by stating that the Surface Go 2 has benefited from some changes introduced by Microsoft, changes that had already been seen embodied in the Surface Pro X and Surface Laptop 3, computers that offered a higher degree of repairability.
Microsoft has improved the internal design, using an adhesive that is less difficult to remove. In addition, they affirm that the metallic protections can be reused during the reassembly process, something that facilitates a task to which it does not contribute, however, the one that does not have a replaceable SSD (nothing to do with the Laptop 3) or that to its You may have a good part of the components soldered to the board, including storage.
Without offering a notable level, it does improve other Microsoft products, which as we have already seen are very difficult to repair .A good example is the aforementioned Surface Pro 7, or playing in the same league, the original Surface Go, which came in at a score of 1 out of 10.
