The Samsung Galaxy Book2 is already a reality: commitment to autonomy on the ARM platform with a Snapdragon 850 processor
Table of contents:
The launch of the range of Surface convertibles by Microsoft has an effect on the market very similar to that at the time ( now also although a little less) they had the _smartphones_ under the Nexus seal that Google launched. They marked the way forward for other manufacturers.
In the case of Microsoft, the way forward and the ceiling they must overcome, for which they already have the Surface Pro 6 as bow pennant. In fact, there are other brands that offer products with similar extremely interesting characteristics. This is the case of Samsung, which already has its new convertible on the market, the Samsung Galaxy Book2, a model of which at the beginning of October we had the first news in the form of leaks.
Successor to that original Galaxy Book equipped with Intel processors and Windows 10 operating system, now the Galaxy Book2 makes the leap to ARM architectureby choosing to mount the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 processor. A variant of the Snapdragon 845 that we see in some _smartphones_, including the Galaxy Note 9, although now it has undergone slight tweaks to adapt its use and improve the performance of this type of devices.
The _hardware_ inside is completed with 4 GB RAM memory and 128 GB storage capacity It also includes support for S Pen, which helps us to take notes when we can't use the keyboard, and a keyboard that attaches magnetically to the bottom bezel.
The Samsung Galaxy Book2 mounts a 12-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ (2,160 x 1,440 pixels) screen, offering the same features as the previous model. It includes two cameras, one 8-megapixel on the back and another 5-megapixel on the front designed for making video calls. The multimedia section is completed with two Dolby Atmos certified stereo speakers signed by AKG.
The Galaxy Book2 is an _always connected_ computer thanks to the use of the Snapdragon X20 modem that allows LTE connectivity with gigabit speed. It is noticeable that it is a team focused on its use in movement, to improve productivity. In this sense, it is worth noting the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor based on Windows Hello As an operating system, it has Windows 10 Mode S, although you can jump to Windows 10 Pro for free.
In regards to autonomy, the battery offers a duration of up to 20 hours according to the manufacturer, a figure possible thanks to the new and optimized Snapdragon 850 processor. Thus we get closer to the autonomy that they promised and that for now we had not seen in equipment with ARM processors. Here are the full specs:
