If the camera on your Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book i7 fails
Many times when the time comes to test new devices, especially when they are launched on the market, users run into bugs that force the manufacturer to release updates and corrections or even to take drastic measures rarely seen.
One of the launches that seems to be suffering from some small problems that will force Microsoft to take action on the matter is the fantastic Surface Book i7, the convertible tablet from Redmond that a little less than a month ago it was presented. A device that suffers, like the Surface Pro 4, a small problem with the camera
And it is when you want to use the built-in camera to, for example, establish a video call or capture an image, it does not respond correctly. A bug that is waiting for a definitive solution in the form of a _software_ patch, we can solve ourselves by following a series of steps.
- We must go to Windows Device Manager, you know, from the Start button with the _right-click_ of the mouse.
- Once in the Device Manager we must look for the submenu Imaging Devices > Microsoft LifeCam Frontal/Rear and select the camera that gives problems (if they are both first one and then another).
- We then look for an option that shows Update driver, a step that we have surely taken on other occasions to solve other problems. It is about searching if there is an update pending and not installed on the network or on the device.
- The most common thing is to come across the message that warns us that there are no pending updates and that we have the most recent driver, so we must proceed to delete the device, be careful, not the driver.
- The next step, once uninstalled, is to reboot the Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book i7 so that the system detects the _hardware_ with configured and proceed with your installation from scratch.
The objective is that the necessary drivers are installed from scratch and the solution of the problem can be attacked at the root, something that on many occasions usually workswhen we have problems with the _hardware_ of our equipment.
Otherwise and if the simple step does not work, it is time to enter more complex solutions, one of them restoring the equipment to a point in which the camera will work correctly or a complete restoration if we want to leave everything as new and start from scratch.
Remember also that if you choose to restore your computer with activated Windows 10 no activation key will be necessary, since the system will detect our device by model and serial number, activating it when we connect to the internet.
