Surface Clones
The figures indicate that the market for tablets is stagnant and that consumers are saturated with devices of this type, mainly because the line that separates them from _smartphones_ in size, features and possibilities is increasingly blurred.
However manufacturers continue to launch products and there we have the iPad Pro, Google's Pixel C or Microsoft's renewed Surface range , all of them with great features and very good reviews from the press and users. Brands do not give up tablets for dead and it seems that unknown brands have a gold mine in these new releases.
The reason is that they are expensive products, not within the reach of all pockets, a fact that makes unknown brands launch clones of these other more well-known products on the market, clones in appearance and little else, because prices and specifications are usually far away from the original product.
"However, many users are looking for appearance and these products seem interesting, something that makes this clone market (be it tablets , telephones, sunglasses or sneakers) always be booming."
I can't buy the original, I bet on a clone
Clone for not calling it a cheap copy (or not so cheap in some cases) and that in the case of Microsoft Surface tablets will account for up to 30% of the global market for the year 2020, a figure to take into account and that speaks of the good work of Microsoft.
Good news for those of Redmond, because these figures indicate that it has created a range of quality, object of desire for many and in which the Surface Book represents the icing on the cake, a tasty and long-awaited cake but which on the other hand should keep those from Redmond on the alert.
We will have to see if these data are finally met, because let's remember that IDC already predicted in another study that phones equipped with Windows Phone would outsell those of the iPhonein 2017 and nothing could be further from reality as we saw yesterday.
Growth of screens
The trend in the market is to manufacture products with screens larger than 9 inches (7 and 8 inches are something of the past) to revive sales, because if we refer strictly to the current market, tablet sales are expected to fall by 6% in 2016 to reach 195 million units.
In the words of IDC's Ryan Reith:
Convertibles to dominate the market
And in this sense are removable devices, with generous screens, as is the case of the Surface Book, those that represent a more interesting alternative, on the one hand for many users who see them as the basic replacement for the PC and on the other hand for manufacturers who see the salvation table in sales of your tablets.
In this sense, at IDC they expect that, for example, iOS will fall from 28.5% to only 7.3%, that Android will remain around 18% and that Windows will grow from 53 , 3% to 74.6%. Do we believe these figures if we look at the current market situation? And all apparently because they do not offer removable devices, such as the Surface range, which seems to be those intended for dominate sales in the future.
