Rumor: The Surface Pro 4 would have a borderless display that would intelligently adapt to usage

Anonim

As many of you may already know, on October 6 Microsoft will launch a wave of Windows 10 devices at a major event that will have place in New York. Among the devices that are expected to present are the new high-end Lumias (950 and 950 XL), and new versions of the Microsoft Band and the Surface Pro.

To the joy of the impatient (and sadness of those who like surprises) most of these devices have already been completely leaked , with one exception: the Surface Pro 4The team that develops this tablet-convertible has managed to keep most of the details about this new device secret, and because of this the only things we know about it are vague and more or less obvious things: better processor (Intel Skylake), more screen resolution, better stylus, etc.

However, now a more unexpected detail of the new Microsoft tablet seems to be leaking. According to the W4pHub site (link in Arabic), the Surface Pro 4 would include an almost borderless screen, very similar to that of the Dell XPS 13, thus allowing it to offer 13 inches of screen in the same space that the 12-inch screen on the Surface Pro 3 uses today.

"The Surface Pro 4 would automatically generate a virtual border on the screen when used in tablet mode"

But there's more. At the idea of a borderless display, many will object that it would make it difficult to use the Surface as a tablet. Well, according to this rumor, Microsoft would have thought of that too, including a dynamic virtual border technology .

This is, in a nutshell, that when you connect a keyboard to the Surface (and use it as a laptop) the screen will use the full 13 inches available, but when you switch to tablet mode, it will display virtual borders in black, without touch sensitivity, to hold the computer easily, and the space used by Windows will be reduced to 12 inches.

It's important to note that none of this is confirmed, and the rumor site is also not a source with a track record of successful leaks, so everything could be false.

However, if true, this would clearly be one of the killer-features that would give the Surface Pro 4 an edge over all the other convertible tablets that have started coming out in recent times ( iPad Pro, Dell XPS 12, etc).

The only thing left is to wait until October 6th to hear from Microsoft itself whether this feature is real or not.
