We knew since the Windows with Bing announcement that we would start to see affordable Windows 8.1 tablets coming to market, and IFA 2014 was the venue for the Toshiba Encore unveiling Mini, a tablet with 'Windows 8.1 with Bings' for $119

This tablet has a 7-inch WSVGA LED screen, with a resolution of 1024x600, and therefore a pixel density of 178 PPI (pixels per inch). The aspect ratio is 16:9, and the capacitive touch screen is capable of recognizing up to 5 fingers at a time.

The Toshiba Encore Mini runs on a Intel Atom Z3735G processor (2MB Cache, 1.83GHz), has 1GB of RAM memory and 16GB of internal storage, although this figure can be increased thanks to the microSD port of up to 128GB.

On the back of the tablet we find a 2.0 megapixel camera, while the front camera with microphone is 0.3 megapixels, both with the possibility of taking pictures and recording videos, although the front one is designed more as a webcam and less as a camera.

Regarding connectivity, we found a microUSB 2.0 port, a slot for microSD cards that I mentioned before, and a 3.5mm Jack connector compatible with headphones and microphones . It also has WiFi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.0.

All of this is powered by a non-removable lithium polymer battery, with an autonomy of 7.3 according to the official technical data sheet hours. The weight of the device is 354 grams, battery included, and is only available in white.

Its price is 119.99 dollars (€90.50 to change), and at the moment it can only be reserved in the United States, with a delivery date set for September 17. For the rest of the countries there is still no data, so for now we can only wait.

Along with the purchase of this tablet, Toshiba offers a license of Office 365 Personal for one year, after activating the included license.
