Weight Convertible

This HP falls under the category of hybrid or convertible devicesThat is to say, it is an ultrabook to which the screen can be detached, being a real Windows 8 touch tablet. So I can work quite well to build content, and I also have the extreme mobility that a tablet allows me, second only to a smartphone.

"

The size of the device, adjusted to its 13-inch screen, is a bit in the middle of what is comfortable to carry, and the ease of viewing a 15-inch screen. So it is easily transportable by cradling it in one arm, instead of carrying it in one hand it is done with 10 devices. Even, due to its size and weight, it can be carried in a lady&39;s bag(of the big ones that are so fashionable now)."

Its finish is hard plastic on all sides except for the back of the tablet, or the back of the screen or the top of the ultrabook, which is metallic. The sensation is of robustness and that it is a team that supports intensive and somewhat rough treatment well.

The design is most beautiful (a bit clunky for my taste) and oozes quality; conveys the feeling that is a high-level work device.

Closed, in notebook format, it is very comfortable to transport due to the shape of its lower edge. And another very unique detail is that when we open the screen (with the tablet attached to the base) due to the computer's own shape, it rises a few centimeters. Making it more comfortable to type.

Mobility as a central objective

The dual concept of the base seems very good to me So in the tablet I have a 60Gb SSD for data storage . and in the base a 500Gb hard drive. Also, by having two batteries, one in the tablet and the other in the keyboard, the available working time without electrical connection is greatly extended. And it offers even more duration that the action of suspending it is very efficient, so much so that it looks like hibernation.

The connection/disconnection of the tablet from the base works perfectly, although the system warns you that it is not good to do so; I guess because of writing to the hard drive.

The sound is very good for speakers of this size, with the lack of bass that everyone suffers from, it's plenty to being able to listen to music while we work . Or to be able to listen to a movie bothering our fellow travelers.

The Pad is multitouch and big. To work as a mouse it is quite good, to work with touch it allows us the operations of the left and right edges, being a pity that it does not allow operations with the upper and lower edges (at least in the version updated to windows 8.1).

The keyboard, for a professional like me, falls below the level of the rest of the components. The touch is too soft, although it allows quite fast writing. The keys could have been a little bigger instead of giving you that wasted space between them. And they are too harsh on the fingertips. They are also flat, without any depression, which makes them small boards.

This article was written about the device, and it caused me a little annoyance. But, obviously, the level of demand for a blogger is out of the ordinary.

On the other hand, I like the decision not to embed a numeric keypad, allowing full-size keys, although the up and down arrows seem too small to me.

Another thing that seems very well done to me is that the pad, even being continuously touched with the base of the right thumb, does not produce strange or unexpected effects , as with older or misconfigured pads.

Connectivity is another point in its favor. Without having to purchase your own connectors (incompatible with the rest) it allows connection to an external monitor or television via HDMI, two USB ports (2.0 and 3.0), audio connector both on the base and on the tablet, an SD card reader on the base, and an expansion slot for micro SD cards on the base of the tablet.

Let's get the colors out

The most uncomfortable and most what is striking about this ultrabook is its weight It weighs much more than an ultrabook with the same characteristics, exceeding two kilos with three hundred grams. I guess because of the size (13"), the two storage drives and the two batteries.

It should also be noted on the negative side that the tablet, attached to the keyboard, wobbles back and forth, making a The mixed use of fingers/mouse is slightly uncomfortable. Especially since when you press the screen it gives a little.

The opening angle of the screen in ultrabook mode barely exceeds 90º, which is a bit lacking. And more if we compare it with the competition that, in many cases, reaches 180º.

Finally, in these times a hybrid of this level is expected to have FullHD resolution (1920x1080), and the standard resolution of 1366x768 is a bit scarce . Please note that up to new 5" phones >

Conclusions

It is a work-oriented team, even in its tablet facet. It is robust, it is elegant, with a long autonomy disconnected from the electrical supply, with a clear separation of the two parts of the hybrid where the dock carries the battery and the main storage, while the tablet is fast, light and manageable. But without losing those 13">.

A team that would be even more recommendable if it cost a little less, if it were more rigid in the tablet-base set, and if there would be an option to purchase it with a processor from the i7 family.
