ASUS Taichi 21
Table of contents:
Windows 8 has shown such flexible capabilities for making a number of the strangest devices. And this time it's time to mention the ASUS Taichi 21 which at first glance looks like a common laptop, but it's not until we close its screen that we find a unexpected extra screen at the top.
ASUS Taichi, everything looks better twice
Although it sounds rather strange, this hybrid between tablet and laptop has two 11.6-inch IPS displays which have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and both have up to 10 point touch reading capability.
We can decide in which way to use the ASUS Taichi 21, either as a laptop using its keyboard and touchpad or in mode tablet in which we have access to some volume keys and rotation lock. But if we want to make the most of both screens, we can activate both at the same time either to display the same or different content on both.
ASUS Taichi Power
When working with two screens at the same time there would be more demand for hardware, so the company offers two different configuration options. One with a 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 processor and one with a 1.9GHz Intel Core i7 , both models would be third generation.
They are also accompanied by 4GB of RAM, 128 or 256GB SSD storage and Intel GMA HD graphics. Plus USB 3.0 ports, mini-DisplayPort, microVGA, NFC communication chips and a promised battery life of 5 hours.
Availability and price
The ASUS Taichi 21 will be available for sale on October 26, priced at $1299 for the Core i5 model and $1599 for the Core i7 model, reservations can be made from the day of today for release day delivery of Windows 8.
