It was the news yesterday. Qualcomm and Microsoft betting together to help launch laptops with ARM processors inside A new range of computers that already have two models announced: the ENVY X2 from HP and the Asus NovaGo.

And in between, at the Qualcomm Summit, the company once again gave details of what will be its star processor for next year. A SoC that will have to compete with Samsung's benchmark, the annual version of Exynos and with the iteration that is expected in 2018 from Apple's A11 Bionic. Two brown beasts that can only be defeated with heavy artillery by Qualcomm

So the best way to warm up your engines is to reveal new details of the Snapdragon 845, numbers that refer to the new cores processor, consumption, graphics, improvement in photography and a field that is gaining great importance as Artificial Intelligence.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 features new high-performance cores. These are the Qualcomm Kryo 385 that work at 2.80 GHz A new type that seeks to improve the performance offered (there is talk of an improvement of up to 25%) that it will also be reinforced by a new graphic, the Adreno 630.

An improvement in performance that is also accompanied by a much tighter consumption, since Qualcomm affirms that the Snapdragon 845 will consume up to 30% less if we compare it with its predecessor, the Snapdragon 835 that right now occupies the heart of a good part of the terminals on the market.A processor that, on the other hand, is built with Samsung 10-nanometer technology.

The new Qualcomm SoC also makes an important commitment to Artificial Intelligence and with the use of it you can achieve a notable improvement in performance offered by the personal assistant of the device that incorporates it (Cortana, Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant or Bixby). An improvement that is possible since it allows the detection of keywords by being able to always be activated without this implying a decrease in energy consumption. For this they have developed Qualcomm Aqstic (WCD9341), an audio codec that works with a low consumption system that makes it possible to always be attentive to what we say.

In addition, the Snapdragon 845 will make use of the Snapdragon X20 LTE Category 18 modem with which download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps can be achieved(another thing is that the networks allow it) thanks to the support for the new Wi-Fi standard 802.11ad.

Another of the improvements of the Snapdragon 845 is that this will allow us to take photos and record videos with greater color depth directly with our phone mobile or tablet. This is possible thanks to the support that it will offer for 10 bits (HDR) and Rec. 2020 color gamut, something that can be appreciated in the case of screens that have the support to appreciate it (this year's range caps already allow it ).

And regarding the video, three other considerations. The first and most notable is that you can capture video with UHD Premium quality (Ultra HD Premium), which can be recorded in 4K resolution at 60 FPS and record at slow motion at 480 FPS in HD quality.

Qualcomm's bet with the Snapdragon 845 is unbelievable and it only remains to know which are the devices that will integrate it in the year 2018.A list of products in which we would like to see a new _smartphone_ with Windows 10 Mobile (or the system that succeeds it) inside.
