Corning now puts its views on tablets
Table of contents:
One of the star features of a mobile phone is its screen. On many occasions it is the differential factor that enters our eyes but at the same time it can constitute the most outstanding Achilles heel (now with a podium shared with the rear of crystal).
To protect such a sensitive area, manufacturers opted to implement layers of protection Thus, Samsung presented its unbreakable glass for mobile phones in 2018, an alternative to Dragontrail and above all to Gorilla Glass, the great dominator in this panorama. A reign that now threatens to reach laptops and tablets.
More protection for large diagonals
Ok, at this point you may think that in a laptop it is not such a sensitive element, since it is almost always at home and the screen, closed, is protected. Two truths that now, with the advent of hybrids, a mixture of tablet and laptop that also boast permanent connectivity, are put into question more than ever
These may have been the premises for Corning to have scored the goal with a bet to try to conquer a market that until now is foreign to itFor this they have presented Corning Astra Glass. Protection designed and developed to be applied to laptops, tablets and even televisions.
And given the diagonals it's oriented for (think of a 65-inch 8K TV) Corning ensures that Astra Glass will not interfere with resolution or pixel density from the screenWe will not appreciate that there is a layer of protection on the screen.
According to the manufacturer, this layer of protection contributes to generating brighter and more realistic images. We will, however, have to wait to see the first products equipped with Astra Glass.
And for now there is no information on when Corning will have Astra Glass available so that manufacturers can begin to apply this layer of protection to their equipment. The indications suggest that we will have to wait until the end of 2019 to find out more details
