Solution to PDF issues in Edge comes to Windows 10 Mobile in Anniversary and Creators Update
In the middle of the month, we saw how Microsoft released an update aimed at solving problems reading PDF documents in the American firm's own browser, Microsoft Edge. An improvement that arrived after its application to desktop systems
The problem at that time is that said update, although it reaches mobile devices, was limited only to those that wore the latest version of Windows 10, Fall Creators Update. Where were the users who were still using the Anniversary and Creators Update versions? They had to wait, but they finally received the update that corrects this problem.
From Microsoft they have released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 Mobile in the Anniversary and Creators Update versions. With version numbers 14393.2126 and 15063.966 for each of the options, this patch fixes issues reading PDF documents from Microsoft Edge. However, this is not the only improvement provided by said _update_, which also offers all these corrections:
- Fixed problem with printing XML documents in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
- Fixed issue that causes Internet Explorer to crash when using F12-based developer tools.
- Added updates to cell visibility of legacy document mode in Internet Explorer.
- Fixed issue where Internet Explorer becomes unresponsive in certain cases when a browser helper object is installed.
- Fixed issue that causes online video playback to stop responding.
- Fixed issue where after installing KB4056891, KB4057144, or KB4074592 updates on a server, access may be prevented to SMB file shares on directory junction points or volume mount points hosted on that server.
- Compatibility between different antivirus and Windows updates has been improved. After analyzing available data, we are removing the AV compatibility check for the March 2018 Windows Security Updates for devices that are compatible with Windows 10 via Windows Update. We will continue to require AV software to be compatible. Devices with known AV driver compatibility issues will be blocked from the updates. We recommend that customers check the compatibility of installed AV software with their AV provider.
- Fixed issue where WPF applications running on touch or stylus systems may stop working or stop working. to respond after a period of no touch activity.
- Added security updates for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Desktop Bridge, Microsoft Graphics Component , Windows kernel, Windows shell, Windows MSXML, Windows Installer, and Windows Hyper-V.
If you're using a _smartphone_ with Windows 10 Mobile and you're still on the Anniversary or Creators Update, you can check if you already have this update available for download and installation. However, an appeal must be made at this point and it is that the only phones that should receive this update are those that obtained an official Windows Phone 8 update.1 to Windows 10 Mobile.
