Not for expected it stops being discouraging: the prominence of Windows on mobile phones continues to lose integers
Fall Creators Update will arrive on October 17 and can be a boost for people to start putting Windows 7 aside in part and start looking at Windows 10 with better eyes. Especially because the aesthetic change it will bring. Some improvements that will encourage or that will try, the situation of Windows 10 on PC (which on the other hand is quite good) but What about Windows 10 Mobile?
Well, like every quarter in which data related to the presence in the market of the different operating systems are published, the situation of Windows 10 Mobile continues to be bad With figures that are still in free fall, the comparison with iOS and not to mention Android, is increasingly damaging to the eyes. And we don't say it, the numbers don't lie.
We wish this were not the case, especially since more competition is mostly good for us, the end users. Companies strive to launch something better than the rival firm and we are the ones who benefit. But in this case, Windows on mobile is no match for anyone.
That is what can be deduced from the latest Kantar report regarding the presence in the market of operating systems. And it is that in the last quarter mobile phones with Windows have had a tremendous fall.
If we move by country, the table clearly reflects the situation in the most important markets. In countries such as France, there has been a drop of 3.8 points going from 4.8% a year ago to a meager 1% in the last quarter. A situation similar to that in Great Britain, where it went from 4.3% to 1% or in Germany, where it fell 3.6 points (from 4.8% to 1.2%).
"In Spain the figures are even worse, although and in search of something positive, the drop has been less (it was impossible for it to be larger) because it has gone from 0.6% to 0.3% of the market. In Europe, Italy is the country with the best figures, since it has only fallen from 4.7% to 2.6%."
If we change continents, in the United States, home of Microsoft, it also continues to lose prominence and thus goes from 2.4% to 1.3%In Japan, and we continue to cross oceans, it goes from 0.6% to 0.3%, the same as in Spain. Although it is in China where the situation is tremendous, since it has gone from having a 0.2% market to having no market, since it has lost the two tenths it had.
The abandonment of support for the previous version of Windows and the lack of releases (some even crash), are helping to this trend continues over time and gets worse every time.
We will have to wait until October 17th to find out if we have any interesting news on the table (especially in _hardware_) or we will continue to witness this slow agony until Redmond cheers up and launches new products.
