Kantar's data shows that the presence of Windows Phone in the market is only anecdotal

Anonim

That Windows Phone is not an eligible platform today by a large portion of users is nothing new. It is something that can be felt just by reading the comments that you leave us, as well as in the different specialized forums, sites in which the sections dedicated to Windows on mobile phones are among those with the least movement.

And it's a real shame, because with its release on the market many of us saw a fresh platform that was different from the rest A platform it seemed to be a vibrant alternative to iOS and Android and may finally stay (if it hasn't already) by the wayside. And this opinion is the one expressed by Kantar, one of the reference pages when it comes to knowing the evolution in sales of the mobile market.

And it is that the sales by platforms for the month of January have been announced and as expected Windows Phone and therefore , Windows 10 Mobile, come out very badly again. And we start with Spain, where the platform has fallen from 0.8% in January 2016 to 0.4% in January 2017, falling in turn from 0.5% presence in December.

A report that shows an overall decline in Windows Phone in all markets except Japan. Thus in the United States, the presence in the market has dropped from 2.6% a year ago to 1.3% today.

In Europe, the falls in one year in France stand out, going from 7.8% to 2.8% and in Germany, where it fell from 5.9% to 2.9%. Figures that together with those of the United Kingdom (where it went from 8.6% to 1.9% in one year) and Italy (from 7.2% to 4.4%) show a drop in Windows Mobile in Europe from 6.4% to 2.7%.

In the Asian market we find the drop in the platform in China, where it went from 0.9% to 0.1% in one year while in Japan, the only market in which grew, went from 0.5% to 1.5%.

Some figures that, as much as they may annoy some, show that the future is only a matter of two mobile operating systems, iOS and AndroidWindows Phone thus runs the more than imminent risk of joining proposals such as Symbian, Firefox OS, Tizen, Palm, Blackberry which no longer paint anything on the market. For more information, you can consult the complete Kantar report
