Yesterday Microsoft released a new build of Windows 10 Mobile for users in the Fast Ring of the Insider Program. This is build 10586, which succeeds build 10581 released a few weeks ago, and which, according to many, should correspond to final version or RTM of Windows 10 Mobile, which should start shipping to manufacturers in the next few weeks (just like Windows 10 for PC build 10240). "

"

Since the operating system is already in the final stretch for release, build 10586 does not include any new features and functions, or interface changes, just bug fixes and performance improvements, with which it is expected to get it ready for its release on the market."

Bugs that are fixed in build 10586

  • Fixed an issue that caused the Start screen to become corrupted after restoring a backup from a phone with a different resolution (example, when installing Windows 10 Mobile on a Lumia 1520 and restoring a copy made on a Lumia 530).
  • Fixed problems when choosing the default location to save content (internal storage vs. SD card). This option can be found under Settings > System > Storage .
  • Finally you can move apps to the SD card without app stability issues.
  • The Messaging + Skype application is improved.
  • The number and duration of waiting screens (Restoring..., Loading..., etc) when switching between applications is reduced.
  • Fixes an issue that caused the camera button to not work on some computers.
  • Downloading apps from the Store should work better.

Known Bugs

  • "Microsoft reports that in build 10581 there was an issue that corrupted the file system when performing a factory restore. This bug would go unnoticed by staying on build 10581 (system still working normally), but when upgrading to build 10586 with corrupted file system, the phone will go into an infinite reboot cycle after completing the upgrade. The solution to this is to do a hard reset using the volume and power keys. Of course, this will delete everything on the phone, so it is recommended to make a backup before updating to the latest build. Another valid option is to go back to Windows Phone 8.1 with the Windows Device Recovery Tool."
  • Silverlight applications created using Visual Studio cannot yet be tested. This will be fixed by an update for Visual Studio that will be released on November 30.
  • "The Insider Hub is not included in this build and there is no way to reinstall it yet. However, its icon appears in the list of all applications, but selecting it will not open anything."

What has been your experience installing and using this build?
