After a temporary suspension in the release of versions of Windows 10 Mobile, due to all the attention that the release of Windows required 10 for PCs, today Microsoft has finally released a new compilation or build of Windows 10 for mobile, number 10512 , which is available on the Windows Insider Program Quick Channel.

If we have already installed a previous version of Windows 10 Mobile, we should be able to update to build 10512 simply by going to the updates section of the Settings app, and pressing Check for updates (paying attention that we are registered in the fast Insider channel, and not the slow channel).

Despite the improvements, it is still not recommended to install Windows 10 Mobile on phones that we use on a daily basis "

If we are in Windows Phone 8.1 and we want to try this new version, we must install the Windows Insider application, open it and register in the Fast Ring from the Insider program. Then you have to go to the update the phone section in the Settings section, and press the button to check for updates ."

What's what's new in Windows 10 Mobile build 10512? They mainly correspond to bug fixes and minor changes, among which are the following:

  • General stability and performance improvements.
  • You can now change your lock image and wallpaper from the Photos app.
  • Fixes an issue that caused apps installed on the SD card to stop working after restarting the phone.
  • Improved the design of live tiles in Kid's Corner mode.
  • Improved the reliability of Data Sense notifications.
  • The algorithm for suggesting contact names when typing is improved.
  • A problem that prevented starting the camera when the cell phone was locked has been resolved.
  • Resolves an issue that prevented some text message notifications from being displayed.
  • Resolves an issue that caused the touch screen to stop working after receiving a voice call.
  • Improved display of live tile folders on home screen.

In turn, there are also some known bugs and unresolved issues, which will likely be addressed in future builds of Windows 10 Mobile:

  • It is not yet possible to share mobile internet using the mobile hotspot function
  • 2-step authentication associated with a phone number does not work yet ( alternatively, we can use authentication through a secondary email).
  • Applications that play audio, such as Groove Music, Spotify, etc., crash after updating in the store. This can be resolved by rebooting the device.
  • "If we have a lot of live tiles pinned to Start we may experience a problem that causes the device to stop responding, and permanently display the message Loaded… . This should be resolved by rebooting the device, but it may be the case that we need to go back to Windows Phone 8.1 using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool."
  • Some apps will fail to update via the store, giving error code 0x80073cf9. This can be resolved by uninstalling these applications and reinstalling them.
  • Video playback in the Movies & TV app does not work in this build.
  • The Insider Hub is not yet included in this build.

In summary, despite the improvements, it is still not recommended to install Windows 10 Mobile on phones that we use every day, but only on test devices.
