Windows 10 Mobile build 10080 is now available
Table of contents:
After waiting a few weeks, the new build of Windows 10 for mobile, number 10080, is finally available includes the much-anticipated universal Office apps. This build also resolves issues that prevented you from testing the Windows 10 preview on phones like the Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and 640 XL, and even adds support for installing the preview on the HTC One M8 , which becomes the first non-Lumia computer to be included in the Windows Insider Program.
Other new features in build 10080 include the addition of the new Universal Windows Store (still in beta). This store will offer both applications, such as music and videos, although for now only the application and video sections are available. In addition, payment through mobile operators (which from Windows 10 will also be available on tablets and PCs) is not yet working.

Among the novelties they incorporate is a new now playing screen>, but even so there are many other functions that still need to be implemented, such as the possibility of exploring the Xbox Music catalog and radio, or download your rented/purchased videos via Xbox Video. These features should be incorporated in future updates of the same apps, without requiring a new build of Windows 10."
And another application that crosses the border between PCs and mobiles is the Xbox app, which is already available in Windows 10 Mobile build 10080, and which offers almost the same functionalities as its equivalent for computers with desktop.
Finally, build 10080 includes a new Camera app, which will replace Lumia Camera in the future. However, Microsoft itself warns us that this new app is still a bit green, and therefore it is not yet compatible with all the camera functions of high-end Lumia devices (something that will be corrected with future updates, which will arrive through the store).Among the functions that this new app does include is the HDR mode, face detection for auto-focus, and digital video stabilization
Known errors (and the usual warning)
As always, this version of a preview of Windows 10 contains a good handful of unresolved bugs, which is why it is not recommended to install it on phones that we use as main team Known bugs in this version include:
-
"Appearance of duplicate tiles in the list of all applications"
-
Some apps may no longer be accessible after upgrading to this new build, although this should be resolved simply by restarting the phone.
-
Apps installed on the SD card prior to the update will stop working. The only solution for this is to uninstall them and re-download and install them.
-
The old Mail app (the one from Windows Phone 8.1) will reappear in the app list and on the start screen (when it shouldn't, because it has already been replaced by Outlook Mail).
-
If we upgrade from Windows Phone 8.1 the cellular data connection will be deactivated during the process, but when finished we can simply reactivate it Going to Settings.
-
Related to the above: every time mobile data is disabled, and someone sends us an MMS, this will be lost forever and we will never receive it. Normally in these cases, the user should receive a message with a link to download the SMS once mobile data has been reactivated.
-
If we want to use Cortana in build 10080 we must make sure that, before updating, the language, region and voice settings have been restored to their default values (eg, if our mobile was purchased in Colombia , the regional configuration must correspond to Spanish of Colombia).Otherwise, after updating to the new build Cortana will show an error every time we try to start it
-
"Uninstalled apps still appear in the list of all apps. Rebooting the phone after uninstallation should resolve the issue."
-
The new Video app sometimes throws an error when trying to play movies or TV shows purchased through the store. To solve this we must follow these steps.
-
The Twitter app may have problems when trying to open it after the update. To solve it, it should be enough to uninstall it and reinstall it.
-
Automatic app updating is not yet available for apps installed through the new Windows Store. Therefore, to update these applications we will have to manually go to the store and check if there are new updates to install.
-
"If we update to build 10080 from build 10052, the Hub Insider>"
It should be noted that build 10080 is available only on the rapid updates channel, at least for now. If we want to install it and we are using Windows Phone 8.1 we must download the Windows Insider application, then sign up for the fast channel (or Fast Ring) and finally go to the phone options, and check for new updatesof the operating system in the corresponding menu.
