As much as many of us are impatient to see a new flagship (hopefully with the dock and iris reader that these rumors mention), Microsoft remains convinced that the way to make Windows succeed in the mobile sector en Taking Low End & Emerging Markets
And in that vein, today they broke a new record by announcing the cheapest Lumia to date: the Lumia 430, a equipment with characteristics similar to those of the Lumia 435 but with an official price of only 70 dollars, or 66 euros before taxes (10 dollars less than the suggested value for the Lumia 435).
Let's take a closer look at what this new team has to offer.
A lighter and cheaper variant of the Lumia 435
As mentioned above, the Lumia 430 is extremely similar to the Lumia 435 in terms of specifications. Even so, the exterior design is not identical: while the 435 corresponded almost to a Nokia X2 with Windows Phone, the Lumia 430 has more rounded edges and duller colors , more similar to those of the Lumia 530. We are also offered fewer color options: only black and orange, omitting the white and green variants we usually see other models.
These design differences mean that each piece of equipment has different dimensionsThe Lumia 430 is smaller and lighter, but just barely: it weighs 6.2 grams less. Part of it may have to do with a slight reduction in battery capacity: 1500 mAh vs. the Lumia 435's 1560 mAh.
In addition, all Lumia 430 units will offer dual SIM support, a feature that is optional on the 435. All other specifications are exactly the same.

Lumia 430, a case of price discrimination?
Given the few differences in specifications between the Lumia 430 and the Lumia 435, one might think that their launch is due to a marketing practice known as price discrimination : sell the same product at different prices for different segments, according to their willingness to pay, in order to increase sales.
The situation is this: Microsoft wants to increase its sales in developing countries where the willingness to pay for smartphones is lower, and one of the ways to do this is to offer its products at lower prices.
However, it is not in Microsoft's interest to lowering its prices so much in richer countries, where it is still possible to sell the equipment at a higher price. Releasing 2 nearly identical kits at different price points ($70 for the Lumia 430, vs. $80 for the Lumia 435), for each country group, is a way to achieve both at the same time.
Available from April, and with support for Windows 10
The concept of price discrimination also explains why the distribution of the Lumia 430 will be very limited. Microsoft notes that will go on sale in April only in some Arab and Asian countries, and also in Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Most likely we will not see it in stores in Spain, but perhaps in some Latin American countries in a few more months.

Something positive about the terminal is that, no matter how limited its specifications are, Microsoft guarantees that it can be upgraded to Windows 10, just like every other Lumia device currently sold.
