Lumia Denim will bring always-on Cortana listening and 4K video recording

Microsoft's presentation at IFA 2014, which we are following live, has barely begun and Microsoft has already announced the first novelty for its range of phones: a software update called Lumia Denim, which corresponds to the Update 1 of Windows Phone 8.1, but with special news for Lumia phones .

What does Lumia Denim offer us in addition to what we already know? At the moment we have seen improvements in Cortana Now the voice assistant will be listening to us at all times to be able to be activated by the command hey Cortana (similar to what we see on Xbox with Kinect).They have also put a lot of emphasis on the camera app (now called Lumia Camera), increasing the speed at which pictures are taken (which is reduced to 42 milli -seconds) and allowing record video in 4K at 24 fps, and making holding the camera button start recording video automatically. Also, since each frame of that video will be 8.3 megapixels, it will be possible to save individual frames as photos right from the recording screen."

Also, improvements are made in terms of image algorithms in order to increase the quality of photos in low light. To highlight that in the presentation they have shown a comparison side by side with the iPhone 5S camera, in which the Lumia 830 with Denim obtains superior results in low light.

Another interesting novelty is the dynamic flash, which works after the fact (combining photos with and without flash) to achieve small miracles such as photograph someone with a glass background, with the person illuminated but without reflections in the glass.Finally we have improvements in Glance, which now allows you to display more detailed information from applications such as Bing Weather or Bing Fitness and He alth.

Lumia Denim will be available first for the higher-end Lumia, the 930, 1520 and Icon , coming to all other Windows Phone 8.1 phones in the last quarter of 2014. And of course, it will come pre-installed on the Lumia 730, 735 and 830.
