The Xbox Series S will have limitations with the titles for the Xbox One X
Table of contents:
Last week we saw how in advance and thanks to a leak, we knew the prices of the new Microsoft console for the new generation, the Xbox Series X. In addition, a new model appeared by surprise, the Xbox Series S. A budget version with cut features
If to get the Series X we will have to pay 499 euros, the Series S will arrive for a significantly lower amount: 299 euros. A difference that, of course, will be reflected in the benefits. Less power and capability which will mean the Series S will not be able to fully utilize titles on the current Xbox One X and will instead be more like an Xbox One S but hormonal.
Less power and its consequences
It's a logical move. Microsoft has two consoles designed for different types of users. Two machines that does not mean that they will have two different catalogues. It would be shooting yourself in the foot to make developers work for two platforms. So the titles will be able to take advantage of the full potential of Series X if the study in turn so deems it, but also work on Series X.
We are talking about two machines with a significant difference in power: 12 teraflops vs. 4, 1 TB vs. 512 of storage capacity, 4K resolution with up to 120 FPS for Series X for 1440p up to 120 Hz in the Series S… a lot of cloth to cut. But it is that the Series S is less powerful than the current Xbox One X in some aspects… and here comes the news.
Both machines are backwards compatible so the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will be able to play Xbox One games, but in the case of the Series S, will bump into with some limitations to run Xbox One X games And we must not forget the difference in power between the Xbox One X and the Xbox One S (the most beautiful console to date).
Microsoft itself has confirmed it. The Series S will run versions of games intended for the Xbox One S but with next-gen enhancements. Games that would benefit from HDR support, better loading speed, more stable FPS on screen…
The power difference becomes apparent. If the Xbox Series S has less RAM than the Xbox One X, it is logical that it cannot run titles designed with Microsoft's most powerful console so far. You will therefore have to opt for the versions for the One S
