Xbox Series X: these are the functions of the ports that the new Microsoft console shows for now
Table of contents:
Still It will take a few months for the new Microsoft console to become a reality We are talking, you know, about the Xbox Series X , the machine that will arrive to compete for the throne of desktop consoles with Sony's PlayStation 5 that will also be released in 2020 (if there are no unexpected changes with the Coronavirus involved).
The truth is that we have seen some specifications of the new Microsoft console that speak of great power, in the same way that, thanks to some filtered images, we have verified what its design looks like. Some forms that hide some specifications in some connections that we will now review
Ports and Utilities
We saw leaked images showing the rear of a console that had already caused a stir in terms of the design adopted by Microsoft. With some doubts about it, this is what is known for now about these connections:
- Three USB-A ports: The console has three traditional USB ports, two on the back and one on the front. Ports intended, as is the case up to now, to connect a hard drive, a controller, a keyboard, a mouseā¦
- Optical SPDIF: This is a port designed for high-end speaker and headphone systems.
- HDMI 2 output.1: the new generation of HDMI is the bridge to connect the Xbox Series X to the television and, as we have already seen, it adds various advantages such as passing on the transfer speed of 18 Gbps in HDMI 2.0 to 48 Gbps in revision 2.1, an ALLM mode (Auto Low Latency Mode), VRR (Variable Refresh Rates), an improvement that makes games offer smoother movement
- Ethernet socket: if we do not want to depend on Wi-Fi we can use the classic Ethernet socket with a Cat5 cable
- Power Outlet: It is not known if the Xbox Series X will have an internal power source like the Xbox One X or an external one , like the first Xbox One, but this will be the socket to connect it to the electrical current.
- CFExpress Slot: we already saw it in its day. The additional large rectangular slot can be a slot to use a CFExpress storage card to expand the base memory of the Xbox Series X.For now Microsoft has not explained what this slot is for and therefore it is the only port that casts doubt.
- Kensington Lock: Featuring a lock icon, this is a Kensington lock port to secure the console and prevent theft.
The Xbox Series X is one of the centers of attention of the current year within the calendar that Microsoft has set. 2020 promises to be an active year and there we have services such as Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud, which will accompany the Xbox Series X in the debut of the American company in the new generation.
