Xbox One X is affected by YouTube limitation for 4K content playback
Do you own an Xbox One X? If so, surely you have already begun to experiment with all the possibilities it offers, especially in relation to the graphic improvements. A better section that can be seen clearly if you have a 4K TV.
Among colleagues we already have several Xbox One X and the opinion regarding the functions and performance they offer is more than satisfactory. However, there are users who are not so happy, either because they suffer from a bug that we have already talked about (case of sudden death or problems with Dolby Atmos) or because of the limitation offered by the YouTube app.A failure that, incidentally, cannot be blamed on the Xbox One X
And we already discussed how Google has limited the quality of the videos that can be seen on mobile devices up to a resolution of 1080p. Although the device supports QWHD (1440p) and HDR resolution and that the video previously offered it in the supported resolutions table, it has been removed.
A limitation due to 1440p video playback with HDR support wasn't performing as smoothly as it should on the devices Playbacks that were choppy, loss of fps... reason enough for Google to make the decision not to allow the playback of videos with HDR at more than 1080p.
A problem that could well be behind a similar limitation that exists in the Redmond console.A failure that occurs in the Xbox One X occurs if the official application that we can find in the Xbox Store is used. Does not allow access to 4K content with HDR"
You can watch content in 4K on your TV if it is a _Smart_ TV with access to the official YouTube app, but not through of the Xbox One X application. In this case, the maximum resolution at which you can view content on your Xbox One X is limited to 1080p And no, it is not a console failure.
It seems that the problem could be caused because the application still does not have an update that allows content to be played at this resolution and that detects that it is an Xbox One X and not a mobile device. An error in which Google is working to solve it in the shortest possible time and thus enable the playback of 4K content on the Redmond console.
