Xbox Music could be renamed to Microsoft Music
One of the problems that Xbox Music has faced is that due to its name, many people mistakenly think that it isA music service exclusively for Xbox, or that requires the use of that console. The idea of using that name was to expand the Xbox brand to associate it with the world of entertainment, rather than limiting it exclusively to gaming (Xbox One itself had that goal at first, trying to become an entertainment center that brought together music, streaming video, TV, games and more)."
Both approaches seem to have failed, resulting in Xbox One refocusing on gaming, and Microsoft is phasing out the Xbox brand from its music and video services. We had already seen how the Windows 10 multimedia applications were renamed simply Music and Video , but it seems that Redmond will take more steps in that direction, completely renaming it to both services.
The new name chosen for the music service would be Microsoft Music (and by extension, Microsoft Video for your partner). Evidence of this is that such a name has begun to appear on the Xbox Music online player:
To which we must add that the domain microsoftmusic.com has been acquired by MarkMonitor, a company that reserves key domains on behalf of from other companies, in order to protect their brands. So these 2 clues would point in the direction of a service name change, but are not enough by themselves to confirm it
"Yes, adopting the name Microsoft>"
This was partly why we decided to name the Windows 10 browser Microsoft Edge (instead of Edge a dry), and for which people are beginning to talk about Microsoft OneDrive>"
What do you think? Would you like to see these services start to be called Microsoft Music and Microsoft Video?
