Xbox One will add Miracast support and power-saving improvements in its May update
Day of Firsts in the World Xbox: Microsoft just announced a major part of the changes that will include the May update, and that will be available within this week for the participants of the preview program (so far the The only news of May that we knew about was the streaming of games to Windows 10).
The most relevant of these seems to be the support for Miracast, thanks to which it is possible to transmit non-DRM protected content to the console , from devices such as Windows 8 PCs or tablets.1, and mobile phones with Windows Phone 8 or Android. Content will be received via the Wireless Display application, which should appear on the console interface after installing this update.
Another important improvement is the possibility to turn the console on or off from the SmartGlass beta apps Of course, this function will require that the device is connected to the same network as the console, so we cannot turn it on or off from work or while we are in the car. Also, note that this feature will not be available in stable apps yet, so to use it we will have to specifically use Xbox One SmartGlass beta ."
In addition, Microsoft has responded to criticism regarding the additional power consumption of the Instant-On feature by making changes to the console's initial setup wizard, which now allows choose a power-saving mode, in which Instant-On and downloading updates in the background is no longer available, but which results in the consoleconsume less electricity when on stand-by
For its part, voice messages still remain in the preview phase, but even so, this update adds support for recording such messages using third-party headsets , and also to send them within a group chat.
Finally, improvements in digital TV support are promised, but they apply only to the United States and Canada.
All of these features should be available in the next few days as an update for Xbox One preview members. After that , they should be released as a stable update for all other console users.
