Xbox One arrives in Latin America and adds Minecraft to its catalog
This week there has been two very good news for the Xbox One and its ecosystem. The first of these is that after almost a year after its original launch, the console has finally been released in Latin American countries such as Colombia and Chile In these places the launch took place on Wednesday, September 3, with large promotional events in which Microsoft seeks to overcome the lead that the PlayStation 4 has taken, which has been the only next-gen alternative in the Latin American market for almost a year.
Unfortunately, the launch for Argentina has been delayed, even though that country was on the list of those who would receive Xbox One this month. The head of Xbox within Microsoft, Phil Spencer, affirms that despite this the console should go on sale in Argentina before the end of 2014.
What are the prices at which Xbox One has begun to be sold in Latin America? In Colombia it can be purchased for 1,199,000 Colombian pesos in a pack that includes a controller, HDMI cable, and the games Titanfall and Forza 5. For those who wish Kinect There is a pack for 1,449,000 pesos, which includes everything from the previous one, plus the sensor and the Dance Central Spotlight game. In Chile the packs for sale are the same, and are available for suggested prices of 360,000 and 430,000 Chilean pesos respectively.
To the Latin American countries there are another 24 markets in which the Xbox One will go on sale during September, such as Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Japan and the Netherlands.
Taking so long to launch the Xbox One in markets where it's not yet available is a luxury Microsoft can't afford.According to Phil Spencer, the idea is that very soon the Xbox One can be available globally This is certainly something that Redmond has to hurry, because if to the advantage that the PS4 is having in those markets where it competes with Microsoft we add the advantage that the Sony console obtains in markets where it runs alone, it is possible that soon The Xbox One is left in a very unfavorable position that leads it to lose critical mass to get game exclusivities or interest from studios to bring attractive titles.
Luckily that's not the case yet, and for now interesting games are coming out for Xbox One all the time. The most recent one was released yesterday, it is Minecraft for Xbox One.
This consists of an evolution of the game that was already available for Xbox 360, with the main novelty being the ability to interact with worlds 36 times largerand with a greater distance of painting than what we saw on Xbox 360. In turn, we are allowed to import from the 360 all the worlds and games that we have previously created, as well as the DLC and skins.
Minecraft for Xbox One has been available since yesterday on the Xbox Store for a price of 19.99 dollars / 18.99 euros, although if we have already bought the edition for Xbox One, this new version should not cost us more than 4.99 dollars.
