Xbox One June Update: Support for External Hard Drives

With its next monthly update Xbox One will begin to support the use of external hard drives as a storage system for our games, applications or downloaded content.Users will have the possibility to connect up to two hard drives of more than 256 GB via USB 3.0 and use them to transport the content of our console to another, although it will still be necessary to use the drive or our Xbox Live account to run the games.

Precisely around our user accounts will revolve other modifications that are being prepared. With the new update, automatic login will be facilitated without the need for Kinect and we will have the possibility of using our real name, being able to control its visibility.

In addition, starting next month Spanish users will be able to start enjoying the OneGuide function which will begin to spread beyond borders of the United States allowing more countries to enjoy the control over television provided by Xbox One. Control that will also be reinforced by an improved SmartGlass application for the console.

On top of that, the June update will also be the starting point for those with Xbox Live Gold accounts to enjoy the new benefits and offers it offers membership, including the Games with Gold program debuting in the next generation. Likewise, other regular Xbox Live users will be able to start accessing many of the applications that until now were reserved for Gold members.

In summary, a good handful of news that show that Microsoft is getting its act together with its console and that the change in its direction is sitting well in the Redmond offices.
