Spotify for Xbox is already a reality and these are the first impressions after testing its operation
Spotify has been available for Xbox One for a couple of days. To be exact Spotify Music - for Xbox, which is the name that's how you get in the Xbox Store. However, it was not until a few hours ago when I had it available for download and thus be able to have an impression of the work done in the Redmond console.
Gone are the times when a console was only used to play Now the new machines want to be the multimedia center of our home and for this they have applications that give us access to video _streaming_ services (Netfix, Wuaki...) and audio, Spotify being the most representative. This one, present in the PS4, was absent from the Xbox One until now, so let's see how it works
We had been rumored for a long time about the launch of Spotify on Xbox One and it has finally come true. Just access the Xbox One Store from the console to download Spotify Music – for Xbox for free This way we can listen to our favorite music while playing games from our collection.
Once the application is downloaded, we access it and see how offers two ways to log in if you already have a user account . The traditional method with username/registration email and password (also used to make a new registration) or a newer method in which we will use our _smartphone_ in which we must have the Spotify app installed."
In this case these are the steps to follow if we choose this method:
- We connect the Xbox One to the same network as your device (mobile or tablet), whether it is equipped with iOS or Android.
- We open Spotify on the _smartphone_ or tablet and start playing a song. "
- At that moment click on the option Available devices at the bottom of the screen and we see a menu appear with the devices available for connect."
- We then select the Xbox One and in this way our music should start playing through the Xbox One.
Once inside we find the classic Spotify recommendations and an option (Explore) to search for new songs, artists... or follow already created lists. On the other hand, the other option is the one referring to our music made up of the PlayLists, the ones we have created previously In the case of our music, the options go through see the different lists that we have created in our account. Under the icon of each song in the list two accesses: on the one hand to add to our music and on the other hand to add to the playback queue."
If we click on one of them we will see how the songs that make it up appear, so that if we click on any of them it will start playing Dream. At the bottom three icons only. On the one hand, the random playback, along with the repetition of the song along with another to add said track to our music.
In the case of having a premium account, we will have available the usual advantages of no receive between songs and listen to songs with higher sound quality."
The operation is more than correct, fluid and with an easy-to-use menu but too simple to my taste. To begin with it suffers, like the versions I've tried for iOS or Android, of the ability to order the songs on our lists by artists, titles or date of inclusion . This is possible in the computer application and it is missing especially when you want to start with a specific playback order.
Similarly is missing or at least, it would be desirable to include more information such as the number of tracks on the list or the number of songs that include it.
Otherwise, this is a long-awaited service that, although late, we can finally enjoy on Xbox One. Now we just need to update the application with new improvementsthat place it no longer at the level of what we find on a computer, but even come close to what we have available for mobile phones.
