Microsoft completes the purchase of Bethesda: Phil Spencer announces exclusive games on GamePass starting this week

Months have passed and it is now, in March 2021, that Microsoft has finally completed its acquisition. The Redmond company has taken all the steps and finally becomes the owner of ZeniMax Media, which if it doesn't sound too much, becomes the parent company of Bethesda Softworks .

GamePass gets bigger

With this step, Microsoft comes to have under its umbrella even a good group of development studies. To those that were owned by ZeniMax Media (id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Studios), others are already owned by the American giant.

And keep an eye on the movement, since these are studies that are behind the development of titles such as Fallout 4, Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonored... all of them mythical names.

With the purchase, Microsoft has challenged Sony and its PlayStation 5 with everything, by snatching up some of the best-known multiplatform titles, games that will be available on day one on Xbox GamePass and for Windows. Something that Phil Spencer has made clear:

"In addition, in the announcement, Spencer clarified that we will have more news on this later in the year and that Bethesda&39;s influence will soon be felt as we will be bringing additional Bethesda games to Xbox Game Pass at end of this week>"

In this sense, one of the questions we asked ourselves when discussing one of the three possibilities that were open for GamePass is confirmed. The possibilities were to continue as before with multiplatform launches available on Game Pass from the day one, or launch them as an exclusive or even with temporary exclusives. And it is clear that after reading Phil Spencer, possibilities one and two are what it seems, they will have prominence.
