Microsoft could have chosen the name for its new operating system: Windows Core OS would be the name chosen

The prevailing news at Microsoft is still linked to rumors and leaks regarding what we can expect when the event takes place on October 2, the details of which are already being finalized. The indications point to what we will see new hardware but it is almost certain that the software will have its share of protagonism

Data pointing to a Surface Laptop 3, new Surface Pro 7, perhaps a device with a folding screen and in this case the reference to the operating system that gives it life seems almost obligatory.An OS that we have seen under different names and that seems to end up opting for Windows Core OS; at least that is the name that appears in the Microsoft support documents.

One Windows to rule them all

There is no official confirmation that allows us to affirm that they work on a new operating system and that Windows Core OS is the chosen name. But now we have seen a support document in which this name is chosen to refer to the operating system in which they could be working.

Name appears in a recently discovered support document for Windows 10 version 1903 (May 2019 Update) despite its date of creation dates from the month of April. And in it, there are mentions of an operating system called Windows Core.

Under the heading Common Data Extensions.utc, the document, intended for the basic level of Windows diagnostic events, lists three Windows Core OS related items:"

• wcmp The Windows Shell Composer ID.
• wPId The product ID of the Windows Core operating system.
• wsId The Windows Core operating system session ID.

The development that they are supposedly carrying out (remember that nothing is confirmed), indicates that it is already in a state in which the first applications that would arrive to be compatible with said system would have been compiled. Apps, classic Windows features such as Windows Camera, Groove Music, and Microsoft Recommendations.

Remember that Windows Core would be the basis of a series of shells designed to run a new generation of devicesWe are talking about the HoloLens 2, a possible Surface Phone and who knows what other devices. An operating system that is even said to work with Win32 applications.

Maybe at the Surface event to be held on October 2, we will have more news about it.
