A few hours from the Microsoft Event
Table of contents:
In a few hours, Microsoft's most important event will begin in this final stretch of 2019. An event that is scheduled for October 2, at 7:00 a.m. in New York City (4:00 p.m. hours if you are in Spain). An introduction perhaps for new devices (it's what we all hope for) and new software we've been talking about for so long
And at this point it doesn't hurt to do a review of all the rumors we've seen and read throughout the last weeks. Leaks and data relating to what we can see. Some will be fulfilled and others may not, but so that we are not caught clueless, it is best to have a brief guide.
Surface Pro 7
It is perhaps one of the products that we could see on stage. The renewal of the current Surface range that we saw a few days ago as it could have appeared under the code name Harper.
From this new model it is speculated that could have a continuist line with respect to what we have already seen. There would not be too many changes inside and the news would remain for the hardware under the hood, where the new tenth generation Intel Core processors would hide. They would use Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 with four cores and eight threads with variants depending on RAM (up to 16 GB) and storage (up to 512 GB).
When it comes to connectivity, the indications point to the use of a USB Type-C port (it would replace the mini DisplayPort) a USB Type-A port and Surface Connect along with LTE broadband connection.
Microsoft Surface 7
Another of the models with the Surface seal would be a convertible but, as we already anticipated at the time, it would be a novelty for Microsoft, by leaving aside Intel processors to bet on ARM. Microsoft could opt for the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx, a processor ready for LTE connectivity and with performance similar to that of a Core i5.
The new device, codenamed Campus, would sport a 13-inch screen and offer a slim design with very thin bezels. They would hide a USB Type-C port (it would abandon USB Type-A and the MiniDisplayPort) and bet on a renewed facial recognition system and a new Surface Pen codenamed "Katana".
Surface Laptop 3
Another of the models that would put aside the Intel stamp for processors but in this case opting for the most direct competition that is none other than AMD . The new Surface Laptop 3 would arrive with a Ryzen Mobile SoC in 6 and 8 core versions.
A Surface Laptop 3 that would release processors for the occasion and that would also be accompanied by improvements in the design, although without expecting superlative changes. A device with connectivity thanks to USB Type-C and that would do without the Alcantara finish.
Dual Display Surface
The model that Microsoft could present and which for now is a real unknown if it becomes a reality, because there is no previous model already on the market to take as reference A dual-screen Surface device, a concept we've talked about repeatedly.
It would have already been listed under the code name Centaurus or Janus and it is expected that it could represent Microsoft's commitment to launch, without interruptions, in the purest Galaxy Fold style, a dual-screen and foldable device There is no more data, not even rumors. Will we be before the heir of Microsoft Courier?.
Surface Note
The expected Surface Phone? Another of the unknowns. A possible new compact dual-screen device that debuts Microsoft's new operating system for foldable dual-screen devices, Windows Lite.
Rumors point to a compact model, halfway between a tablet and a smartphone with a double 9-inch screen and a 4:3 aspect ratioInside it would mount an Intel processor with 10 nm technology and to boost the market, it would allow running Android apps, in addition to the universal UWP ones from the Microsoft Store.
New Software
We have seen references to Andromeda OS, Windows Core OS... different names for a new operating system that would be the novelty for a new type of devicesas the aforementioned, Surface Note.
It is also expected that we will see the arrival of a new version of Windows 10, the long-awaited branch 19H2, which would arrive without much news, that Yes, but with numerous bug fixes and general system improvements.
