This patented design demonstrates that Microsoft is committed to bringing flexible displays to fruition

The future seems to point to folding screens… except for catastrophe. Leaving aside what for now is the fiasco of the Samsung Galaxy Fold and with the Huawei Mate X more in the eaves than ever, these types of screens are now more than ever to demonstrate that they have a future rose color
There is a long way to go before its use becomes widespread and the few devices that have come to light (we have already seen it) are more an exercise of power and authority than an actual movement. Manufacturers are still engaged in testing and development and Microsoft is one of them.
The secret is in the hinge
At Microsoft they work on both hardware and software in which they embed their new developments. And patents such as those published by the USPTO only show that work does not stop to launch a flexible screen on the market.
"The patent is named Mobile display supports, computing devices that use the same and methods of use and refers to the use of a flexible screen that folds like a folio."
In the images you can see a device that could be a tablet, made up entirely of a folding and flexible screen. A transistor matrix in the form of a thin film is mounted on said screen. On the back a hinge is what allows the screen to be opened and closed
To improve screen durability, movable screen support has been configured on the back surface of the screen to limit flexand that in this way the screen can only be displayed in one direction. Apparently this screen would be of the OLED type, organic light-emitting diode or in English, Organic light-emitting diode.
Let's remember that recently we saw how Lenovo brought its flexible screen concept to a device that won't hit the market until 2020, a year in which we expect flexible screens and its technology to have matured enough to extend its use.
