Finally we have here the long-awaited Microsoft dual-screen device: the Surface Neo. A model of which we knew its code name, Centaurus, but little else. Now Microsoft introduces us to its own dual-screen device.
In this sense, the design of the Surface Neo revolves around, and never better said, a hinge that allows the device to be folded and used as a single screenor use both screens at the same time.A 9-inch screen that, when unfolded, reaches 13.1 inches.
Each screen has a fairly successful thickness that is only 5.6 millimeters. And as was already known thanks to rumors, this Surface Neo works on Windows 10X, the company's new operating system that with an improved interface designed to adapt to the double screen, supposes a new category of software.
This new Surface is compatible with the new Surface Slim Pen, making it easy to use by attaching to the back. It also offers an alternative keyboard that is sold separately. This is also attached to the back by a system of magnets that allows it to be folded and placed on top of one of the screens as a traditional keyboard.
Surface Neo and Windows 10X
A device that works on Windows 10 X, Microsoft's proposal to bring Windows to folding screens with all its peculiarities. Very similar to the original Windows, it has the start menu, the search field, the support of the same applications and all this adds some specific notes.
Thus, when operating on a double screen, Windows 10X allows to adapt to the orientation of the screen, whether it is in landscape mode as upright. We can interact with both screens, moving applications from one to the other by dragging and dropping them in case we want to work on a double screen or a single app occupying the entire surface.
If we use the dockable keyboard that we have seen before, we will see the so-called Wonderbar appear, a kind of TouchBar that we can configure to our liking and needs. We can watch a video, use that space as playback control…
Regarding price and availability… the Surface Neo will take more than a year to wait. Will not arrive until Christmas 2020.
Surface Duo
"We are not going to reminisce about Microsoft&39;s failure in phones. We knew they were going to try again and… here&39;s the one more thing: it&39;s the Surface Duo."
The Surface Duo is about a phone with Android and a dual folding screen A Surface brand device resulting from the agreement with Google that seeks bring the Android experience to the Surface range. It offers a design similar to the Surface Neo and its double screen.
Thanks to its hinge system, the Surface Duo allows the two screens to rotate 360 degrees and can be used in tablet or compact phone.
The double screen allows something new and that is that the Surface Duo can run two different applications at the same time, one on each screen. You can also configure the screens in landscape mode and use one of them as a keyboard or control pad for games.
As in the case of the Surface Neo, is not scheduled to hit the market until Christmas 2020. One way, according to Microsoft, to make it easier for developers to create applications for the Surface Duo adapted to their possibilities.
