With Windows 10 April 2018 Update already out, we thought it might be interesting to look back in time. And we don't realize it, but we've spent years, dozens of years, accompanied by the Redmond operating system.
"And in the midst of a race for Windows versions, it is somewhat embarrassing to look back and see how old we are. We have seen the family tree of Windows, starting with Windows 1 and up to Windows 10. A list of versions in which they always alternate, or so users usually see it, a good Windows and a bad Windows.We&39;re going to review history in an accelerated class."
Windows 1 (1985)
The grandfather of what we know today. Announced by Bill Gates in 1983, it was released on November 20, 1985. A revolutionary system thanks to its window-based graphical interface (hence its name).
An operating system that today would be laughable but which was a complete revolution. We had a notepad, calculator, calendar, and even an MS-DOS emulator. Who gave more?
Windows 2 (1987)
Windows 2.0 arrived on September 12, 1987, a renewal of Winows 1 in which users came across something very striking : desktop icons. In addition, Windows 2 had better graphics thanks to better computers so that it had more memory. It was the first time we saw mythical applications such as Microsoft Word or Excel.
Windows 3 (1990)
"Windows 3.0 appears on May 22, 1990 and with several million sales in the first year it was one of the first major successes from Microsoft. With important changes in the user interface, three old acquaintances appeared for the first time: the Program Manager, the File Explorer>"
Windows NT (1993)
Change of name. Windows NT comes from the code name the project had when it was under development: N-Ten. Released on July 27, 1993 It was a 32-byte multitasking, multiuser operating system. A step forward by Microsoft that was not as successful in adoption as Windows 3.
Windows 95 (1994)
July 24, 1994: Date of Microsoft's first real boom. Windows 95 arrives backed by an advertising campaign like no other. The success was coming and in only 5 weeks 7 million copies were sold.
With Windows 95 the interface was completely renewed, being much more pleasant for the user. This is how, for example, the Start button, the Taskbar or the Notifications Area arrived (remember that it was the era of the modem, fax, …). The teams began to bet on quality multimedia content with the arrival of the CD.
Windows 98 (1998)
Good version and now... bad. On June 25, 1998, Windows 98 was released, the first version designed specifically for consumers. there are minor changes to the user interface.Internet Explorer reaches version number 4 and opted to improve integration with peripherals such as scanners, keyboards, joysticks...
Windows Me (2000)
Windows ME, or Windows Millennium Edition, is considered one of the worst versions of Windows ever released. It goes on sale on September 14, 2000 and as a novelty it stops having support in real DOS mode. It is the latest in the line of DOS-based Windows 9x
Windows XP (2001)
Windows XP arrives on October 25, 2001. Microsoft's second best-selling bomb, is the first consumer operating system based on NT architecture. It far exceeded 500 million computers and was no longer supported in April 2014.
A renewed interface appears, now much more intuitive and flat. Multi-user accounts or the ability to group similar applications on the taskbar have arrived, just to name a few.
Windows Vista (2007)
Although people call it bad, in my case it was one of the most stable versions of Windows I've ever used. It arrived five years after Windows XP, specifically on January 30, 2007 and from the beginning it was plagued by problems related to security and especially to requirements of hardware and the performance it offered.
Windows Vista debuts a new graphical interface that allowed transparency in windows called Aero. Windows took on a new life, with effects and new mouse movements to interact on the desktop.
Windows 7 (2009)
It was released on October 22, 2009 and until recently it was the most widely used version of Windows. Some of the facts see it as what Windows Vista should have been in its day.
In Windows 7 we saw a redesigned interface, with a new taskbar now more customizable and, above all, better system performance. It was the first version of Windows Touch, which enabled the use of touch screens.
Windows 8 (2012)
We are nearing the end. Windows 8 arrived on October 25, 2012 and it did so wrapped in controversy. The reason? It had no Home button on an interface that had been completely revamped by embracing the Metro design.
"The objective was to make it more friendly and easy to use with touch screens, since it was the time when you saw the tablets how the new PC&39;s (many called it the post PC era). Usability was improved with dozens of new functions and Tiles>"
Windows 10 (2015)
It arrives after three years, on July 29, 2015 Windows 10 makes its stellar appearance. The latest version of Windows of which We have just released its latest update, Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
It is the most mature and most secure version of Windows. In fact, recently we have seen how it has dethroned Windows 7 as the most used version of Microsoft's operating system and on its way to reaching 1,000 million computers that integrate it as an OS.
