Table of contents:
We have commented on different occasions how companies that develop _software_ do not limit themselves to just one brand Google has products for Windows and the Apple ecosystem (iOS and Mac). Apple plays in a separate league and Microsoft, seeing that Windows 10 Mobile has no future, has seen in iOS and Android the ideal breeding ground for attracting new users.
Thus Throughout the month of October we saw a version of Microsoft Edge specially designed for both platforms A version that in the form of Beta could debut in the rival ecosystems where Safari and Google Chrome roamed freely. And now, after a first update months ago, we see how Edge for iOS is updated with support for 3D Touch.
Support for 3D Touch… a big improvement
The new version of Microsoft Edge for iOS can now be downloaded from the App Store in an update numbered 41.10. And among all the novelties hidden in , the support for 3D Touch stands out, one of the star features of iOS for the iPhone.
In this way the user will use more or less pressure exerted on the screen to be able to access one or the other content in Microsoft Edge. They can therefore see a preview by pressing more lightly or access the full content if the pressure on the screen is more intense.
But this is not the only novelty that Edge for iOS will bring with this update and it is that together with it we are going to see how now sharing links from other apps is allowed, how Outlook can be set as the default app to open links, or how Edge has been optimized for the iPad.This is the list of improvements that we will see:
- Support for 3D Touch Peek and Pop actions
- "Added Find in Page option"
- You can set the Outlook app to open links in Microsoft Edge.
- Share links in Microsoft Edge from other apps using the Share sheet
- Choose content region for Headlines on New Tab page
- You can now open a new tab in the background when a link is long-pressed
- Boot times have been improved
- Improved Microsoft browser compatibility on iPad
The new version of Edge for iOS can now be downloaded from the App Store and if you already have it installed it's only a matter of hours skip the warning so you can proceed with the update.
