The future of access passwords is more in the air than ever or that is at least what Microsoft wants
Accessing our device thanks to an access password is the most common way to keep our data safe. It is at least in computers (those that do not have another identification system), because in _smartphones_ it is something that is more than surpassed thanks to sensors fingerprint, iris or face recognition, with Apple's Face ID being the latest exponent in this regard.
And Microsoft seems to want to take that course. They don&39;t want us to have to keep pulling passwords to access Windows 10 or log in and they already have devised a plan so that they remain buried in the drawer of oblivion and be replaced by an improved authentication system."
"To do so, they are already testing a version of Windows 10 that in the latest Build released doesn&39;t use the password for access A system that for now can only be tested on Windows 10 S, the secure version of Windows designed for educational environments and that makes use of the Microsoft Authenticator application."
To do this we will have this same application installed on our _smartphone_ (right now it is available for iOS and Android) so that using it we can authorize or deny the access to our team It's a kind of two-step verification system.
To do this the use of Authenticator will be complementary to that of Windows Hello so that not only will we not have to use the _password_ to access to Windows 10, but we should not use passwords for logins either.
It remains to be seen if this step will be well received by users It will be necessary to see how they implement it, otherwise it is done properly it may be more of a problem than a solution. Let's think that perhaps we should have the _smartphone_ close by and execute two steps to access our equipment in what can be done with a simple step.
Depending on the result obtained we will have to see if this system is more interesting than facial or fingerprint recognition that we see right now in some equipment, systems that require almost no configuration processes on the part of many users who, when they buy a equipment, do not want to have to deal with complicated configurations."
