Microsoft seeks to improve security in other operating systems and will bring Windows Defender to Mac
One of the premises in the current generation of operating systems is to improve the security of our equipment against external threats. A security that they also seek that is implemented directly in the system in order to avoid having to resort to third-party solutions An option that, given its greater degree of integration, seeks to facilitate use and above all not interfere with the performance of the equipment.
At Microsoft, the clearest example is Microsoft Windows Defender, a protection system against threats that has generally proven itself quite useful while not interfering with Windows performance. But as we have already discussed on other occasions, Microsoft is increasingly embracing its presence in other operating systems in a less concealed way, a way of proceeding that makes even more sense if, as we see today, Redmond wants to bring its solution to macOS X, Linux , iOS and Android.
From the American company they are working with specialized companies in the market such as Bitdefender, Lookout and Ziften, to bring Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection closer to the three great systems indicated above. It is about creating a solution that seeks to help ordinary users detect threats on their computers efficiently and transparently.
To this end, they will use part of GravityZone Cloud from Bitdefender, with which the user is allowed to detect on his computer the presence of threats in the form of _malware_ or possible malicious files, generating information that may help to identify said threat.
On the other hand, they will have Lookout Mobile Endpoint Security, a solution designed especially for mobile devices and that stands out for offering up-to-date real information related to the system and the threats that can be detected.
The third company in the business, such as Ziften, collaborates on the project with Zenith, a system that seeks to help the user to detect attacks and zero-day vulnerabilities, so that the threat can be stopped quickly to correct it before it spreads through the computer."
For its operation no specific specification is required, so that once the integration in the system is established, the new events that can occur on macOS, Linux, iOS and Android devices will begin to appear in the Windows Defender ATP console.
Bitdefender is already available in the Public Preview and its integration with Lookout and Ziften will arrive later, which will inform users of its availability on their respective web pages.
Another thing is that at this point, users of iOS, macOS X or Android (especially the first two groups), deign to offer coverage on their computers, traditionally well protected against threats , to solutions of this type that have never been very well seen
