One of the trends in recent years is the one that promotes the use of connected cars Something that becomes evident in every technology fair that is held in which vehicles occupy _stands_ and rub shoulders with mobile phones, apps and computers without any problem.
A vehicle is a work tool for many and a leisure tool for others, but in summary it is an almost indispensable element in our lives. For this reason, technology companies have seen in this sector an outstanding niche in which to apply their developments and Microsoft does not want to miss the opportunity to increase its presence in the automotive sector
We may be facing the next battle between big tech companies positioning themselves or trying to position themselves in the automotive sector. Apple, Google, Microsoft... three examples that want to enter this sector and in the case of those from Redmond they have found another allied manufacturer, in this case the Indian giant Tata.
And so the manufacturer Tata Motors has reached an agreement with Microsoft with the aim of offering solutions that allow the development of interconnectivity in the automobiles and make advances in technology that enable the implementation and development of autonomous vehicles.
Microsoft account already includes other manufacturers such as Renault and Volvo to be an important part of the next generation of autonomous cars. The implementation of characteristics that allow the integration of mobile phones and connection systems with the vehicle is sought in order to develop advanced navigation systems, control of vehicle elements in a unified way or even the inclusion of Microsoft Azure technology.
Both parties benefit
With the agreement with Tata Sports it is expected that two of the renowned vehicle brands that operate under the umbrella of the Indian brand such as Jaguar and Land Rover, begin to implement some of these developments And it is that in the words of Tony Harper, Head of Research Tata:
Tata Motors and Microsoft seek to benefit from this agreement On the one hand, Tata Motors will try to take advantage of Microsoft's connected vehicle technologies by integrating elements based on Artificial Intelligence, the development of the Internet of Things (IOT) and improving vehicles thanks to Azure and the cloud. As a result of this agreement, there will be a vehicle under the Tamo brand that will be presented at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show on March 7, 2017.
For its part, Microsoft, which has been working with Tata Motors since 2016, is already very clear about what the Indian company is needs in their future cars so that they can allow the creation of a platform that is extensible to other vehicles, whether for private or commercial use.
The first vehicles could arrive very soon and begin to circulate in India, a country with a huge population and chaotic traffic in which in turn has Internet connectivity that is still under development.
