With the arrival of the Mobile World Congress, doubts assail us. What can we see from Microsoft?
Table of contents:
The most important event of the year related to mobile telephony and the entire industry that is related to it is getting closer and closer. This is the Mobile World Congress that, like every year for some time now, is held in Barcelona and that this 2017 will take place from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona
And it is that if CES is dedicated to consumer technology in general, something that we have already seen this year with very few mobile phones presented, the MWC (Mobile World Congress) has this segment as its protagonist .A fair that, however, this year may be more lame and not only because of the almost certain absence of the Samsung Galaxy S8.
One of the brands present in recent years was Microsoft thanks to Windows Phone. First with Nokia and since the American company began to put its name on the Lumia, we have always had a _stand_ that also happened to be one of the largest and most striking(many hours we have spent in that space).
This year, however, it seems that none of this will happen, since the absence of Microsoft's own releases with the Lumia label (we can already consider this brand finished) it seems that now we can add the non-presence of those from Redmond and their _stand_ at the fair. Something that can be seen from its absence among the spaces of the companies present in Barcelona and a whole jug of cold water for those who were waiting for a clue about a possible Surface Phone, even if it was only presented to the press.
In this way if we want to test a terminal under Windows Phone we will have to go to the spaces of third-party manufacturers that have products that work under the Microsoft mobile platform, in the case of HP, Alcatel, Acer or Lenovo. We may even be able to test these models in the Qualcomm space thanks to the use of these processors in some models. Who knows if it might even have to unveil the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.
A new era for Microsoft?
Microsoft's strategy may include being present at the fair but discreetly, a more limited presence, with a greater focus on the company, private meetings with partners and manufacturers with which to approach positions for its new stage in the mobile telephony segment.
And for us to see that these are just rumors, we can assess others that point to the contrary and that tell us about a possible presentation of a new Microsoft Surface Pro 5 at the fair, a product with specifications high-end (4K screen, 16 GB RAM and Intel Kaby Lake processors) to arrive with the new big update from Redmond.
Hopes are placed in HP, Acer, Alcatel… third-party companies among which we could even come across a surprise in the form of a launch or unexpected presentation. Something that certainly wouldn't hurt for a market, that of Windows Phone, wanting to sink its teeth into new proposals within mobile telephony.
For now this possible absence is a possibility but if in the end it is not like that… _What do you think the Microsoft stand will be like at the Mobile World Congress 2017?_
