Kantar's latest figures reveal that Windows Phone continues to lose steam in the market
It's time to talk about sales figures and presence in the market again and like every time we refer to Windows in terms of its mobile ecosystem, the news is not precisely good Some accounts provided to us as always by the Kantar World Panel and which detail the situation in the month of October.
The markets speak and it's time to see what is the situation of the main mobile operating systems We could or would like to say that there are three, but If we refer to the figures and no matter how much someone may feel hurt, we must be realistic and see how only two platforms really have a place in the market for now.
In the quarter that includes the months of August, September and October the situation has gotten worse and if, for example, we focus on Spain and in the month of October we see how while in 2015 the market share of Windows Phone was 2.7%, this has been reduced to 0.3% after one yearA great contrast if we look at iOS that goes from 7.3% to 7.9% and much more if we look at Android, which grows from 89.6% to 91.7% .
If we look at the month of September we see that after a rise of 0.1% since August (0.6%), of 0.7% has passed at 0.3% in a month. That always speaking of the Spanish market.
And if we think that we are special in Spain, just look at other markets. In the United States it has dropped from 2.6% to 1.2% in one year. A market where Windows Phone has traditionally been relatively strong.
In other markets we will use this table below to help determine the situation of mobile operating systems by country. The fall in sales in Germany is striking, going from 6.9% to 2.4% and in Great Britain, where it fell from 8. 2% to 2.4%.
In Italy and France, two of the fiefdoms where it had the most strength is where it loses the most integers and thus goes from 10% to 4.8% in the case of France, while in the transalpine country it falls from 11.3% to 4.3%.
External factors such as the arrival of the new iPhone 7, a fact that always alters the sales of the set of manufacturers but nevertheless the real problem is latent and has been with us for some time: the lack of launches of devices with Windows 10 Mobile to which is added the dismantling of the existing catalog.
We hope that in 2017 things will start to change and maybe the recent announcement made by Microsoft will help, otherwise it looks rough for the Windows mobile platform.
